We purchased a piece of land 5 years ago because of a very old oak tree sitting within its boundary’s which has heritage protection. The canopy covers around 800 square meters with massive branches touching the ground. My granddaughters from the very first called it “The magic tree”. We have now built our retirement home there and every morning when I open the curtains the magic tree makes me smile and I feel blessed and in awe of nature. At night I hear the gentle call of a Southern Boobook owl and the not so gentle screech of a bushy tail possum. My own little magical place. 🇦🇺

The magic just keeps growing! Rewilding that field will be very interesting. Perhaps the local school would be interested in following along on this project. They could do observations several times a year and record and publish the results online. Lots of different skills and learning opportunities for the students, plus you get the record without doing the work. 😊

I’m an Aussie and live in Sydney. That would be a balmy day here. We usually have mid to high 30’s and can go to early 40’s. It’s always humid here and in Summer that can be very oppressive.
