I believe that old alignment of 66 was paved at one time but Quay county let it go back to gravel, cheaper to maintain I guess.

Why are you just standing there? Don't you know you're supposed to used it just like steps? The purpose is to make you move faster, just like those people mover belts at the airport. Don't just stand there like a clod of dirt. There is an art to walking up and down an escalator. Only the infirmed have an excuse for blocking these devices. And they should use the elevators.
