I watched a few videos and it looked like everyone needed everything, and the one trail guy said he gives it two good cranks after the road gap. Needless to say; a brake check in between would have been sufficient lol. Close to death ☠️

@@splooshmtb I would have loved to ride the entire line, but I guess they didn’t want to put the maintenance into it for winter because it was all leafy and closed. So only the 4 first jumps on the ridge were open :/ I have high hopes for the rest of the line though as the first 4 jumps are minty

Man, I just moved to North Carolina kind of closer to Western and eastern by far and you know I’ve been a roadie right now for I don’t know a few months from living in Virginia where it’s flat up in the northern part so yeah I gotta get back at it. This looks so much fun.

Is this part of the resort/bike park or just public land? Is it doable without shuttling?

@@TheNewnan3 it’s part of the resort, but it’s open to the public.its like across the valley from the bike park/ same mountain ridge. You can pedal it, but let me tell you: some of the steepest fire roads I’ve ever pedaled, very brutal. The trails are directional and better graded to ride both directions. They do shuttles on Saturday and Sundays that you basically pay like a lift ticket for. You can’t shuttle it in your own car as they gate the roads off.

Michaux state forest specifically northern Michaux or that area I just did a recent video on ;) More south trails would be: George Washington nation forest trails: high knob, rifle range, (haven’t rode any other ones, but I’m sure they are just as good backcountry style trails) Observatory Hill / Heyward community forest near Charlottesville VA Carvins cove at Roanoke VA. Blacksburg VA (McDonald’s hollow) and poverty creek / pandapas pond area

@@lpass1lean way way way back over the rear tire, keep your arms locked and body as close as you can to the tire/ chest on the seat (although it’s not the “proper” ? form) it will get you some confidence of not going over the bars, and then when your not as scared you can figure out a better body position. That’s what I got, hope it helps 🤷🏻♂️

literally at the last 300 yards of middle fork before it crosses the main road, you traverse right along the bottom of them on the main trail, if you were to slow down and look up you'd see them. There is like a bunch of logs as an "entrance" on one of the switchbacks that you can ride along the top of the slabs and then drop down into where we cleaned it out.

Unfortunately, the State DEEP destructively closed that trail which was called Covid Trail. Hope to get it back on line soon, but there is now a new trail system at Nepaug called Satins Ridge. Best in New England. Check it out when it reopens in the spring.

@@frankd3994 those are just the ones in the skills park now (probably by where you park in the paved “new” parking lot @ Batt shelter) They took the wooden lips down because they weren’t exactly aimed at beginners for a skills park or practicing of jumps. They are supposedly going to be repurposed on an expert jumpline trail, later down the road 😎

Hey man love your vids! I’m a local to the shed and ride there regularly. Really contemplating getting an e bike (turbo levo). Should I pull the trigger?

@@Ooahhh Thank you and glad you enjoy them! I would 100000% recommend an e bike to anyone who is only concerned with getting as many laps as possible in, has restricted time, and wants maximum smiles. If money weren’t an issue, I think, everyone who likes to ride DH should have one. I don’t really follow specialized, but I can say from what I seen the motor and tweaking of how much power you can apply vs the other bikes with only 3 (sometimes 4) modes, the turbo levo is winning in that department and can get alot more range out of the same size battery as their competitors. Time is now to buy one, deals are real good! I’m 100% sure you won’t regret it, in-fact you’ll probably wonder why you hadn’t done it sooner.

@@Ooahhh I would have to agree because I thought the same thing, for the first month your upper body/ arms will be sore from riding it, with all that extra weight. When I bought mine I could barely bunny hop it on flat. It rode and jumped the same, it just didn’t seem like I could hop nearly half as high. I got used to it, now it’s perfectly fine and I like the weight over an enduro bike because it’s real planted when it gets extra rowdy.

@@bmwpowere36m3 Ayoooooo, your back for this years video! Thanks for the intel (from last year), I guess you can see your information helped me find the goodies. That’s kind of why I wasn’t to worried about not riding Satans ridge this year because I knew the “closed trails” wouldn’t make it another year until I get back out here. I will for sure be riding satans ridge next year, only looked up the videos of that trail after I was already done riding for the week lol. I’m glad I got to ride a piece of history now…I saw that one super sick trail down near 50/01, had trees cut down all over it and I figured the other OG trails didn’t have much more time based on the signage. They did that last year here at local trails: the Fredrick Watershed. Pretty much the worst way to close a trail, but what can ya do. Fun while they lasted
