Nice video. Picked up a brand new 8S X-Maxx snap on edition with the pretty black body. Pretty sure it’s the V2 but dang it’s hard to tell without anything to compare it to. I wonder if the rear axle carriers need the update on this model or not /. Gah

Hi. These wheels are from the front of an old school Rovan Baja 5b King Motors edition. I'm not sure if you can get them with the aluminum beed lock rings, but they do sell them with plastic. The tires are Proline Trenchers. Cheers and thanks for watching. 👍🇨🇦🤠

Nice. I just picked up a Rustler 4x4 bl 2s and I don't want to go crazy with this one. So far, all I've done is the clip on fan that I stole from my Stampede esc that I'm not using and I put a 15t pinion to see how it goes. I really don't want to go crazy upgrading this one 😅

I did the same and more to my first VXL Rustler 4x4 back in 2019. I got every upgrade Traxxas makes for them. I have over 1500 bucks Canadian into it now. Crazy eh.😂

So is the 1600kv motor better than the 1200kv? Should I put the 1600kv motor from my 6s into my 8s? I’m running 19/50 in my 6s but with a max6 so I run it on 8s, will the 1200kv motor on similar gearing not perform as well? If I go 20/50 or 20/46 on the 1200kv would that not be better?

Ok, so personally, I like the 1600kv motor because it turns more RPM on either 8S or 6S than the 1275kv motor with 20/50 gears. Now, I also run good fans, Protek or equal, and keep an eye on my temps, especially if the day is hot. 20/50 gears I wouldn't recommend in the current 2024 X-Maxx as they have changed the internal gearing. I'm currently testing and good gear combo for the newest version X-Maxx. I also have an X-Maxx with a Castle MMX8S 1650kv combo in it, and it works awesome. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching. Great job, Your video was not too long, I bought a used x max, and I too was going through it. That way, I know what what's needed. You know what is new, Motor bearings are OK, but still need to be replaced. Gonna do that this weekend.😊

It's 40mm. A bit bigger than I usually install but I haven't been able to find many mounts that fit these size motors. This mount is for a 17 series castle motor. Hope this helps you. Cheers.

I think traxxas changed the gearing in the ultimate becuz of all the extra added weight from all the aluminum Would be cool to see the ultimate and regular 8s on a weight scale to see the difference

I have a video comparing the 2. Aluminum doesn't add that much weight. The Ultimate doesn't come with new gears. Only the newly released belted has new gears.

Anyone else think Traxxas just recently realized that the Xmaxx and XRT were actually competitively priced with the 8s competition and threw some worse tires on along with gears it should have had from the beginning and jacked the price up another hundred bucks? I don't think those tires cost $100 more than the regular tires. I used to be Traxxas or nothing. I still have one Xmaxx and a TRX6. Since getting the Vigilante I'm finding fewer reasons to keep the final Xmaxx around.

Note: I just did this last night after watching you're video, you only need to cut 1 side both right and left I cut the front ones and used a rubber band to hold battery tray tabs together for extra security

I just get a variety pak from Amazon, I also put two longer ones together and wrap it around the chassic and behind the cab of X-Maxx to hold my body on. Lol again when I decide to do full send stupid stuff 🙃. Cheers. 👍🇨🇦🤠

Maybe I need to do the same recently when I tried to run my maxx. It would run fine then if I’d take a jump or go in reverse and back forward my forward would stop and sounded like grinding pinion . Id pull on the motor up a little and put a small shim under the plate that holds the pin system . I plugged the battery back in it worked smoother for a while took a jump same issue . Repeat and put another shim same thing . I’ll try and buy this motor mount see if it works I ended up just running my sledge and erevo because of the 3min interval adjustments that was driving me nuts lol

Just bought the vxl6s esc and 2200kv motor combo to put in my maxx. The 4s motor in it just doesn’t really have any punch. I also bought castle esc and motors to put in my maxx and sledge when the oem stuff burns out possibly

Dimensions are the same externally. The armature is bigger, as is the motor shaft. 8mm for the 1721 and 5mm for the 1717 series. I'm using the new WFO mini to mount it. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching. Cheers.

Hello, and thanks for watching. I run the 1600kv VXL 6S motor in 3 of my X-Maxxs all on 8S.. As far as how long it will last, keep the maintenance up, change motor bearings and a motor can last a long time. Try not to overheat them. I run 20/50 for gears. My climate is on the cooler side, but I still keep a temp gun with me at all times. Very fun. Cheers.

@@markkumollari43 hello, its me again. Sry for bothering you, but you have lots of experience with the xmaxx and google wasnt helpful at all. Just bought a used 8s motor und esc. But both seem to be damaged. The motor is running very ruogh and the esc is strangely cricling after shut off. It just stop, when i unplug one battery. I never heard an esc cricling after shut off before. Is that thing coocked, as im suspecting, or just a xmaxx esc thing? Thx

Hello again, and it's not a bother at all. Probably need to change the bearings in the motor, I have a video on that, and I am not sure I understand the ESC problem. Typically, they either flash all red lights, don't turn on, or go up in smoke. After updating the power button no longer works to turn it off. Traxxas did this because people were leaving batteries plugged in and killing them, and they would have to warranty them. Hope this helps. If not, don't hesitate to ask. Cheers buddy.

The cush drive parts are the same between X-Maxx and Maxx except the rubber itself. The Maxx part number is for a softer rubber, so I just use X-Maxx rubber. 7794, and the housing part number is 7793X. Thanks for watching. Cheers.
