I am auditioning this fall and was wondering if you have tips. I feel like this was meant for me, and don't know what I'll do if I am not called. I know that you need to be called, but at least on the audition end, do you have any pointers. For example, what type of songs seem to impress, and monologues do you recommend? It would really help if you could let me know of any tips and pointers you have. Thanks!

Emma, I actually have been called to serve as a Young Performing Missionary this summer. I'm extremely excited! But I must say it was not an easy road to get to where I am. I knew that this was something I was supposed to do and I did not make it my first year of auditioning. My advice is to showcase everything you've got. And to even learn some new things, like I took a clogging class this last semester. If you are a belter, choose something to showcase that. If you are good at being funny, showcase that. Just play to your strengths, and just be yourself. I would also try to pick some songs that the director doesn't hear often in auditions. In the end the Lord picks you to be there in his own timing. So if you don't make it this year, do not give up! You will go when the Lord needs you to go. Good luck! I hope next year is your time.
