I'm so sorry about your gluten issue :( My boss has the same problem. It's not until you see someone struggle that you realise how much gluten is in everything. But hopefully, you have access to gluten-free soy sauce and bread like we do here! Happy reading. Working full time is rough x

My biggest gripe with star ratings is the fact that for most people the default seems to be 5 stars and then they deduct stars if they didn't like something. If everything is 5 stars by default, how do you award something that is above average? If everything is 5 stars, nothing is 5 stars. I rank book by a 2 star scale, 1 star = I like it, 0 stars = I don't like it (not publicly ofc because it would mess with the statistics) PS: good video but at least for my taste you seem to be a bit quiet even with headphones. + Points for the Dune book :D

That is a great point. For me the default is three stars and then I deduct or add from there. Oh thank you I haven't yet gotten any feedback for sound so that's great to know :)
@skryvvara
@skryvvara 3 ай бұрын
@@bookishfranzi967 Yes three stars as default is also a very valid rating but I would fear to damage statistics by using it. In a world where everyone is using 5 stars, us using 3 stars would negatively impact the rating overall I feel. But generally, three stars as default does make a lot more sense in my opinion

I am glad Alice was such a good read for you! Now I am very excited to try it out for myself. The bookshelf, for an used one, looks great. I am sorry to hear about the health problems affecting you, I can relate to it very much. And I think that even if it is not something that will decrease your life expectancy, it is still something that makes everyday living more difficult to a certain degree, so "complaining" or just saying how hard that can be it is very much valid. Hope things are doing at least a bit better now. Don't really mind if you want the vlogs to be more spoilery about books, if perhaps it is about one I really want to read worst case scenario I can just skip a few seconds. I have watched many ghost related movies but haven't read many books involving them. I have no idea why, because it does seem like a topic I have some interest in. My favourite one I have read so far is Hell House, by Richard Matheson, I think it creates a true creepy, unsettling scenario that works. And I do consider Doctor Sleep (as well as The Shining) as ghost stories and, as unpopular as it is, Doctor Sleep is my favourite one of the both. I just think the way King writes the characters and how they deal with their lives and "gifts" is truly amazing. A very nice video! I will make sure to try some Susan Hill in the future. Thank you for the recs!
