#1 242 has a shorter input shaft and will strip out the splines if you don't split the case and swap the input shaft. Also you don't need to swap the shifter assembly, just the stickers and swap the shift cable to lower hole in cable bracket. The major issue is the input shaft swap. This video doesn't say anything about the major work to split case . Otherwise you only have about 1/2" spline from tranny to input shaft.

I want to swap transfer cases from a 4.0L 2002 W7 GC with Select Drive to a 4.7L 2004 W7 GC with Quadra Trac. Is it possible to do this swap from one to the other? I have both years, so no junkyard is needed. Quadra Trac makes the gas mile the pits and a royal pain turning sharp corners.

You missed a lot of things from the NP247 to the NP242 input shaft is shorter in the 242 the tail shafts are differ so are the arms for the linkage.
@jtbuilds917610 ай бұрын
Not always the case. There are variations of the 242 that came in v8 models. The one in this video came from a Durango not a jeep. It will naturally have the larger input shaft that came with the v8 jeeps that came with a 242 due to what it came out of. Simple Google searches will net you this information. Also would like to quote my sources ( me and my experience working in a transmission, differential, transfer case rebuild shop for 4 years and specialized in Jeeps and Toyotas).

bud..i dont know what to tell you, but the 247 doesn't engage, at all until there is slippage of any kind, and its a WJ, esp with the 4,7l you're not going to get good gas mileage. your axle gearing affects it a lot more then the case and i can tell you, unless you're putting 40s on it, you're not gonna break a 247. the 247 is rated at 1800 standard 242 is only 1486, and the HD is only rated at 2086. which is only 280lbs more. not to mention, the HD really only came on hummers and a select few WJs.

Thank you, very informative. Where did you get your plastic trim for your rocker panels ? I’m having the same problem with rust there.
@rockyridgetv1601 Жыл бұрын
The plastic trim comes with the Jeep Stock if yours doesn’t have any you could go to a junkyard or You Pull it and take some off and you can buy the clips that keeps it on off Amazon because they break usually when you pull them off.

Nice easy fix, needed one after a camping trip where the rear door got slammed by one of my junior campers. I should have replaced the rear wiper assembly and board while I was at it. My rear wiper works great after a 5 minute delay acting like it's dead. Another easy, cheap, Amazon fix. Nice channel, I have an '01 Laredo 4.7.

Can the jeep grand Cherokee 2000 inline 6 2wd be converted to 4wd?
@rockyridgetv16012 жыл бұрын

First you need a good steering stabilizer I have a rough country. Next check your ball joints and tie rod ends are in good shape. Your shocks will not cause death wobble that’s more in your front axel.

The price is a little high compared to other jeep model fender flares but they are well worth the price and you have to consider the unique shape of the fender flares compared to a wrangler.
