I remember when 47 cars was a tiny train on this line. Crazy how much has been lost over time. Great video though. Makes me miss living in the area.

Sad to see 351 and 353 going as well, probably to Huntington along with 326/330 and 7594/7595. I liked 351 with that RS5T and the oil covering the unit so much it had almost no readable markings alongside it's peeling number boards lol

Lucky you! You caught them Westbound during the daytime! In recent months they have run at night, because of track Works!!! There are some other locations worth filming too, like Curtis Corner, Strickland and River Rd to mention a couple more! I like through Livermore falls Center too!!! Sounds like you need another trip that way, HeHeee!

That’s one heck of a climb for that loaded train at the beginning of this video! I love the lower level towards the Dam before the steep climb!!! You should try the Bridge over the Androscoggin just after Crash Road westbound! If you have any kind of Zoom! You have to do this again, you missed some great locations! The Rumford end of this Branch is awesome too! Great video!!! You pick some wonderful locations to film!!!

What time does it normally depart Waterville? I understand the morning, but do you have a good sense of time?
@BranchlineGeepProductions17 күн бұрын
The schedule has been messed up for the past few weeks, they have been running nights between Waterville and Hermon and days between Hermon and Keag lately. I'd say around 10-11 pm departure from Waterville for the eastbound.

Is there any other daytime trains I could see when I go up there? I’m very far away so I’m very excited to go up.
@BranchlineGeepProductions17 күн бұрын
@@RailWatching A typical day in Waterville will yield a train coming in from Portland just after dawn, usually around 7-8 am which will come in the west end of the yard. There is a train that comes down from Sappi Somerset mill in Skowhegan, usually around 10-11 am into the east end. They usually head back to the mill around 3-4 pm. This could change at any moment however, this is what is happening currently.

I went on a trip to Maine on what i assume was the day after this, when my train passed one of the yards, I’m pretty sure I saw that RDC in the yard. Also when I was leaving, I saw one of the locomotives in this video making its way passed Brunswick back up the line.
@BranchlineGeepProductionsАй бұрын
Yes one locomotive is still on the branch for a week or two more, the RDC was likely in Rigby on the way out of state.

What possibility of turning into a tourist route with freight service as needed

That is basically what Midcoast wanted to do, but the tourist income would not be enough to maintain the line with so few freight customers.

Thank you for catching and posting this. I grew up in the Alna and Wiscasset area, and have family in Nobleboro, additionally I work in Bath. This is my “home branch”. Sad to see Dragon pull out. I hope other customers can be found to make the line profitable again, though unlikely.

I wonder how much longer the state will want to spend money on that lift bridge in Bath if it goes unused.

As a Rockland resident this was truly a sad day. Hopefully the State of Maine / NNEPRA will step up and extend "The Downeaster" to Rockland. I mean, if Cape Air can get a $3.3 million dollar "Essential Air Service" grant to run a prop job 3x / day to Boston Logan - at fares of $129 - $219 one way - I'd think that we could get passenger rail service to help relieve some of the traffic on US 1. Ridiculous how backwards we are on transportation policy.

@mattydred722 ай бұрын
CSX Would probably be better served to let potential customers know there is an actual class one provider back online. Why is nobody doing that in PR? Ridiculous. 57 miles in New Hampshire is a travesty. In Maine, it’s a “maybe later. Still not a good development.
@Maine_RailfanАй бұрын
The customers are well aware. As were the potential customers, since the rates csx gave them weren’t so high that it wasn’t worth switching to rail…
