Saw these guys play at the Fresno Fair in 1993. They opened with this song. Came out and kicked a**. Probably the best show I've seen.

All STP albums are great, but I think that their writing peak is in the period between N4 and Shangri La Dee Da

I didn't realize how much meat and distortion comes from the bass in this song. Robert is a master musician. Great band from a great time in life

Damn the guitars are absolutely on fire here. Love the heavy, gnarly tone. You don’t hear rock and roll like this very much anymore.
@derekbaker3279Ай бұрын
One of the aspects of most of the 90's 'grunge' & 90s heavy rock music that I loved is that bands were being authentic, creative, doing their own thing despite what the so-called 'experts' & critics said, they writing about their own range of topics/stories... AND their 'sound' included being unafraid to have epic, 70s 'stadium rock' guitar solos. All of this applies to this great song, but also to what we heard from bands such as Pearl Jam ("Alive" being the most obvious example..), Soundgarden, and so on! FWIW, this song, like the entirety of STP's first 3 albums, totally blew me away from the moment I first heard them, and nothing has changed since!

Great performance of a great song early STP! It just hit me that the vocal line in the verse reminds me of Rusty Cage by Soundgarden. Could it have been an influence? Seeing as Badmotorfinger came out only a year before, that seems possible! But of course Scott sings it twice as slow.
