The fact that you got straight to the point and showed the receipt EASILY EARNED you my SUBSCRIPTION and my utmost respect. You sir, are a noble man. A dying breed of men. Honesty, Transparency and integrity goes a long waaaaays with me. Much love and Respect. Best of luck and hope to see more great content from your channel. This the best and most satisfying video i have watched in a long time. You are equally soft to the ear and your narration is second only to Morgan Freeman. Lastly, PLEASE WRITE THIS IN YOUR HEART: Not if, but when you get endorsed by some Big Auto Maker or Parts Group please do not compromise your integrity and sell your soul for the mighty $$$$$. Stick to your humble roots i.e honesty, Transparency and integrity and loyalty to your subscribers and fan. Cheers.

in the meantime until you get you another door handle you should drill two holes in it and put some zip ties through it so you can open your door handle that's how my 94. 80 series is done the door handle froze one year and broke off so I drill two holes in it put zip ties in it and that's how I open my door and it works fabulous

Here’s what I did to save money. I put an Eaton truetrak LSD in my rear and an ARB locker in the front. My reasoning was I don’t think I’ll need the front locker but would be happy to have it when I need it. And then I can have the LSD in the rear for when ever even when in RWD. Looking forward to the LS swap!

Great video! I'm a total newbie at this stuff and found this really helpful. Gonna try using the Amazon stuff on my Highlander. Also, in terms of noise reduction, I have noticed that sound deadening makes a HUGE difference at reducing the droning noise of A/T tires on pavement. My best friend did some sound deadening in their Jeep, and while the road noise only got a little quieter, it got WAY less annoying. Very important when you have to drive 2 hours to get to the trailhead!

Garage looking great man, well done so far! IMO I would do E locker, I've got ARBs, and they are great, but if I had to do it again, I'd go E locker just for reliabilities sake. I actually did 4.56s on 37s, but I do have an under drive gear in the TC, so you could always add that if 4.88 isn't enough gear.

Good stuff, I would definitely put in a front locker while doing gears, just so I don't have to tear it all apart to add the locker down the line. You may get stuck in some mud or sand and want a front locker with out doing hard trails.

I have a 1st gen tundra with 4.88s, harrop elocker in rear and trutrac up front. Thing is a beast!… killer 80! 😎🤙 also, you can’t go wrong with the 2uz! Its super reliable and over built like you mentioned. It runs like a sewing machine.

Hey boss, I guess this goes for anyone trying to separate motor from trans on theres for a swap, this is much easier. When I swapped my transmission, it instructs you to remove the center and shift console in order to remove the linkages obviously, but it also does leave a pretty sizable hole once everything is out. You can actually get much more access through using that hole and a breaker bar or long ratchet instead of going from underneath the rig. Just have a long enough extension or set of extensions and wobbles and youll be home free! Cheers!

Mate you have a big 2 JZ there, there is just no reason to change that. if you want bigger in Australia you can get the 5L stroker crank. This engine with the right components can give you 800+HP. I am not against a LS but I am sure the FZJ is superior off-road.

I think you must be skipping a step. When do you let go if the decompression lever? Do you let go of the lever when its time to kick it once you've done the other steps?

Are you a mechanic or just a dude with a cool truck, some wrenches and free time? I’m asking because of a previous comment…need to get into the rear end for a locker replacement and my 80 is burning oil and likely in need of a shirt block or some piston work. Thinking about doing it myself but I am slight over beginner level as far as my mechanic skills.

I’ve been wrenching since I was 17, grew up in a family of mechanics, and previously worked as one for 3 or so years at a local motorcycle shop. I learned by doing and by breaking stuff

@@RM_Garage also, thank you for all the videos, it’s a tremendous amount of work and knowledge that you are putting into the public for free! I think I’ll give the rear end work a shot, but the engine work will probably get me in more trouble than I can deal with at my skill level right now!

Film whatever you want. Someone will find it and want to learn from it just like me on the Cruiser. I'll keep watching those ones🤘 I'm in the planning process of a lift, gears and lockers. I already rebuilt the motor and new bearings on all four corners. Can you show me a list of all the lift parts you did? Also where did you get the tripid socket for the rear hub nut if you have one?

I had some serious PTSD watching this video. I redid my gears and added lockers late last year. Good call on the jack to help remove the third member. I didn't have that and just muscled when removing and reinstalling. I went with 4.88s and front and rear arb lockers. I was on the fence about the front but just ended up biting the bullet. I had Marlin Crawler do the complete rebuild and I did the install. I am satisfied with their work. They had a rear third member so I just had to ship my front. I recommend having a shop doing the rebuild so you can focus your time on other things 😉

Awesome shop!! It needs a huge American Flag my friend. 😁 "Can barely get to these nuts" Sad! 🥺😜 Land Cruisers, trucks and dirt bikes....what could someone want more in their life? You have a KTM right? when you were attempting to remove the birf I was thinking...remove the wheel sensor...remover the wheel sensor!! haha. I have to do an axle rebuild on my 1997 Collector's Edition...it's just about to turn 300K. Mine is factory locked but if I were you I would go with the e-locker and use the factory switch. An 80 with an LS is heaven.

You'll notice the biggest difference with the roof. It's so surprising how auto MFGs don't do anything to insulate the roof outside of some foam headliner fabric. Also, if you use thermal insulation, your interior temps will stay much cooler longer if you have tint.

Pretty sure the reason that there is no factory sound deadening in the doors and quarters is because the road noise doesn't come from those areas. You should have started with the wheels wells in the rear.

Every 6 dB is doubling the volume
@barrettabney
@barrettabney 5 күн бұрын
A 3db reduction is very noticeable to the ear. To increase the sound by 3db takes a doubling of the power of an audio amplifier. So a reduction of 6db is pretty big for an ambient noise drop. Nice.

There are two ways sound is transmitted, STC, and IIC, one is from impact, and the way to oessen that is typically from adding mass, imagine punching a concrete wall, people won't hear in the other side. Then imagine yelling at the concrete wall, concrete will transmitv this type of dound, abs the best way to learn it is by isolation.
