Hello Mike, thanks for making the video. I'm looking to get into microlight flying, in in Cheshire, can you advise on flight training in my area. Jnc 18 off the M6 12 miles south west of Manchester Airport

Grouping US ultralights with UK flex wings is inappropriate. US ultralights are any plane that has a dry weight under 254 lbs and there are tons of options that utilize traditional stick and rudder controls. Heck, there’s even a few full metal birds that meet the weight limit like the Hummel ultra cruiser.

Those “rectangular windows” shown were not the rectangular windows from the Comet. They have rounded edges and are still used on Boeing aircraft today.

Holy shit this video has so much wrong with it. For a channel that is supposed to be dedicated to aviation, you should do a lot more research before you put out a video like this. A, aside from the very first photo, the photos in this video are of the Boeing 707, not the comet. B, your whole explaination of the windows is blatantly wrong, the windows being their cause was not a myth, it is the exact reason. The square windows lead to cracks and fatigue around the corners of the window, which caused the mid air breakups. Seriously dude, do your research, or you'll just look stupid.

I know you're probably comment-baiting for engagement, but as multiple people pointed out you only showed the Comet in the very first photo - the rest are 707s.

Whoa, lots of jealousy-inspired vitriol up in here … still, so much of what he has achieved requires very hard work over a long period of time. Sure, having pockets as deep as his put these things within his grasp, but the FAA, liability insurance companies, the United States Navy, and the Laws of Physics, just to name a few - don’t give a damn if you are a rich, handsome and talented celebrity, or that you’re mean to your wife, or that you belong to a cult, - you ultimately have to deliver the goods. Nobody can deny that many of the things he has, he earned, or was born with. No one could do the work for him.

I met both of the Rutan brothers when I was painting airplanes at the Mojave airport, I found Burt to be very personable and exceptionally friendly, he was genuinely interested in the work I was doing and seemed completely void of the kind of ego you would expect from such an accomplished engineer, Dick Rutan…not so much.

If you can tolerate the tail wag of the v tail I guess its not too bad although passengers in the back seats will get airsick. still an expensive airplane to own. magnesium flying surfaces make it very susceptible to corrosion. I'll keep my Bellanca Cruisemaster.
