That aircraft fire that took Stan from us changed the rules on how they deal with the circuit breaker issue that caused the fire on Stan's flight... That rule is saving lives still to this day. At least something good came of it. Stan's family are lovely people and they continue Stan's legacy with the Stan Rogers Folk festival in Canso. I work audio at at that festival and it's amazing.

Silly Garnet. Naugahyde cones from sidell gougers. Their left legs are shorter than thier right legs. Boot Ketzell raised sidell gougers in the hill country of Nebraska. Sidell gougers feed by grazing on the slopes of hills. Around and around they go, in an unhurried fashion. Sidell gougers starve on flat pasture. The grazing circle is too small. When you butcher and skin a sidell gouger, they produce Spam. So THERE!

I first heard Stan's music 2 years before his death on a Saturday morning folk music show hosted by Eric Keukles on W.A.I.F. in Cincinnati shortly after getting out of the Navy, first hearing Jeanie C, I was an instant fan. Eric called me to turn on the news in 1983. I regret turning on the tv. Everytime I hear Stan's name or a song by him ,the first image that pops in my mind is that damned plane.

Hi I have been to Cincinnati once in 1993, as we were for baseball and yes, we did see Marge and Shotzie, spelling. Had ribs at Montgomery Ribs. Thanks for your service in the Navy, my mother was Married to Lt. Col. William McReynolds, as he was a super person, both are buried at the Naval Academy. I am a supporter of www.songwritingwithsoldiers.org. They are in our will. I learned about this org. due to Mary Gauthie. She has a CD called Rifles and Rosary Beans. What the org. does, they get soldiers who have problems after getting out of the service, many come home not the same due to mental or physical. They tell the story they have to musicians, and they work with the person to get what is going on with him into music. Deals with family members having issued. My mother could have used this group when her 19 yr. old brother, an army mechanic in Florida did in a plane crash. It affected her for her entire life that dead. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fGnNqGmrYt53ntE This is my video of Mary explaining the group and sings The War Against the War. All the best, Mike

The problem with some people in America is that they are so dogmatic and arrogant about the fact that they’re the greatest country in the world. There are many things they do well and many that they don’t. One of which is I witnessed a man collapse out side of an ER. He didn’t have insurance and ER staff wouldn’t come out and help him…we dragged him in to the department and they wouldn’t tend to him. He went into cardiac arrest..I’m an ER nurse from the Uk so I started CPR on the ER reception floor. They walked by and went on with their business. I begged them to let me at least use their oxygen and defib. They refused. He died. That’s the greatest country in the world? I think not.

The track list in the "cover photo" in this video doesn't correspond to this audio, but does correspond to the audio in your "Great Big Sea Rose and Thistle 1993 A Friday in May" upload. The setlist for this audio is almost completely different: Our Station Lovers in a Dangerous Time Nancy Whiskey Sonny Dirty Old Town Excursion Around the Bay The Mary Ellen Carter For What It's Worth Tell Me Ma Henry My Son Berry Picking Time Someday Soon Home for a Rest Also, May 16, 1993, was a Sunday, not a Wednesday, and after "Lovers in a Dangerous Time" on this tape there's some chat about it being a Saturday night or a Friday night (it sounds to me like he says "How's everyone on this Saturday night? ... Just kidding" and then refers to it being a Friday, but I can't quite make out the last bit). Do you know which source info is correct for each of these two tapes? Should the titles of the two uploads be the other way around (this audio is the "Friday in May" show and the other one is the 5/16/93 show)?
@westernmaryland19283 ай бұрын
Hi thanks for catching all of the mistakes and correcting them. I will use your set list for my CD that I made. I wont redo the audio for KZbin with corrections, as I would have to delete this audio upload. I stumbled into the audio from someone on Facebook I think recorded these two concerts. I might have his message and name on the Backup drive for all of my concerts. I will take a look and I find it I will post the message here from the person who recorded this. I believe he was a student maybe in a college.
@westernmaryland19283 ай бұрын
Hi, These was the message, as most likely it from Facebook. I am not a member, but one can look at the facebook page and I looked on day and saw the message below and how to upload the audio. John in making the audio named the tracks. He had two concerts recorded and he named the track, but it got it reversed with audio one, so audio one concert has the set list of this concert. Thanks for letting me know. I need to change both of my cds then! John Fletcher Pasquini shared a link. September 17, 2016 Hi everyone, I have a gift for all of you. Some of the administrators are already aware of this, but back in 1992-94 I was a Folklore Graduate student at Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John's. One of my fellow students at the time was Sean McCann. This was around the time he met Alan and they formed Great Big Sea with Bob and Darrell. Sean took a hiatus from the program at the time to "try this band thing out for a bit." One night in 1993, another student of mine recorded an early show of Great Big Sea about a month before their first album was released. It was recorded on cassette using a portable Sony Walkman with a detachable mic. The show was at a bar on George Street called Sevens George. A few months ago, I rediscovered my copy of the cassettes that were recorded directly from the originals. I digitized those recordings and put them on two CDs. I had an old concert flyer of GBS that I took off a telephone pole one night after the show and used that image to created the "cover" for the CDs. I presented the CDs to Alan this year after his show at Sellersville, PA and his exact words were "What a treasure, this is a real treasure." I'll never forget the look of awe on his face when he held the CDs in his hands. He said there weren't many recordings of GBS around that time and he only had a 4-track recording that he did himself around that time. This quite possibly could be the very first live bootleg recording of Great Big Sea ever. I have since given the recording to Sean, Bob and Darrell via DropBox. I'm soon going to upload the concert to KZbin but I wanted to give the members of the Online Kitchen Party first crack at it before it is available to the public. The DropBox folder contains two folders of tracks (MP3s) that are broken up so each folder can be put on a separate CD. I broke the in-between song banter into their own tracks in case anyone just wanted to listen to the songs without the talking (though I don't know why anyone would want to do that). The KZbin version will just be two one-hour long track videos with the concert flyer as the only image on the screen (very low tech). I also included in the folder my cover album mock-ups for each CD and the original poster that I scanned. In order to access the files, you'll have to download DropBox onto your computer or tablets or use the DropBox App on your phones. DM me if there is any problem accessing the files. Enjoy.
