Hi, I'm from America and I'm quite a Stan Rogers fan. I found your channel and think its so cool that you have access to so much content that isn't normally available online regarding Stan. Thanks for giving us access to this stuff.

You are welcome as I have all of the concert on audio, maybe in video too, all. Give me some time, I will at least post the audio complete. (I am lucky to have seen her in concert before her first CD in 1987 Hometown Girl. Although she is from NJ she was working in DC when she started to do concerts. Hometown Girl did not do well for CBS records, but I think that CD is one of her best.

I only have the audio in full. I will post it sometime next week, as I have to make the tracks into one long track for the download in full. I will message you here when it is on youtube

Ryan's Fancy played at my high school in Truro Nova Scotia back in 78 or so. My mother took me to see them and ever since then I was hooked on this kind of music. Full of soul and gristle.

I just saw Garnet in Baltimore MD. The things he told me about his relationship with Stan's wife, Ariel real name is Diane, is very sad. I bought Garnet's 2nd book. I have a bit of Canadian Corner in my computer room in the state of Maryland.

So I glad I found this. I could not remember who sang this (although I saw B&B in concert in the late 1980s in nyc at the Bottom Line (they opened for Christine Lavin). Pete Fornatele used to play this on WFUV Mixed Bag every Father’s Day

Reason anyone should care is that this station gave a basis for the DC music scene. This includes Dischord Records and the harDCore scene. Gave rise to Nirvana. Dave listened as did I.

My sons a musical savant , Stan Rogers is his favourite musician . I bought him his 1st guitar at 7 after playing Santanas; Black magic woman spotless . I’m sure you’ve played with a few of my family members. Acoustic guitar made in a day is remarkable . I’ve played 100k+ homemade guitars at the Montreal folk festival. RIP Stan , gone far too soon . ❤🙏🏼

Back in 1984ish I heard they would be at the Birchmere and I went by myself & was blown away - so fun ! I told Steve I had heard Leviathan while driving overnight from Ohio to Maryland & he was very surprised. It must have been on a college station my radio picked up as stations faded in & out along the way. I'm so glad I have 3 of their albums - I'm 75 & I just met a 21 year old girl while giving blood - she's from Portland ! I'm looking forward to playing Portlandtown for her so she can record it into her phone - there's something to be said for modern technology.
@westernmaryland19284 ай бұрын
That is interesting that you heard Leviathan on the radio. I have told Steve they sound the best at The Barns and he agreed. I live in MD but have seen them many times in Maine. Dick Cerri made them big in the DC area.

Your welcome. I have no idea where I got this, as it was in my video folder, just this one song. I did write in the description that I think it was at the Ryman Hall in Nashville due to the sunlight coming in through the windows, but I have no proof of that either, no date. But it is a great video.

I actually saw two bikes going down the hill. I am sure they know what they are doing at the high speed they had. One mistake and it could be a disaster. We are in the area yearly to bike on the rail trail,
@garywilliams11625 ай бұрын
@@westernmaryland1928 Yea that is not for me, I would be afraid to do it. If you ride the brakes you will blow out the inner tubes due to the heat. I live in Virginia now but have a house in Dunbar so I am only a little over a mile off the rail trail using the Sheepskin trail, meeting up with the main trail right before the trestles going into Connellsville.
@westernmaryland19285 ай бұрын
Thanks for the reply. Wow, I would of blow out my tires, on a mountain bike. I never got any video of these two, but I have some pictures. I think I do not have video of them! We have done that small section and for being so small, it is really wonderful. A RR concrete phone booth for the conductor still stands.

As an American I realize that I can't possibly fully appreciate the genius of Stan Rogers. However, I have been a CBC radio junkie since 1977 and living in Erie, PA I had access to the Toronto 740 station and Peter Gzowski and Vicky Gabereau made me love Canada. I moved out of Erie and spent a stupid amount of money on equipment to listen to CBC as I worked from home. The money was worth it. Now that CBC is freely available on the internety I am still a listener.

Thank you for posting this. Stan Rogers means so much to my family. Stan Rogers was my moms cousins hero, he stopped his car on the side of the road and wept when heard the news that Stan passed on the CBC radio. I wish I could show you these sets Jimmy, but I feel lucky to be listening to them

Gord was the consummate performer until the very end and he is dearly missed by this long-time fan. I saw him at Place-des-Arts in Montreal on a few occasions from the 1970’s until his second to last performance at PDA in the 2000’s.
