Hello from North FL GA line area, Suwannee River Basin 👋🏼 I was specifically searching for blanket flower moths and found your channel. This is my first year growing blanket flower starting last spring. I added them to my field and to help attract one of my favorite pollinators, the gulf fritillary. And man, they've been amazing the whole summer but the last 2 weeks they have leveled up 😮 They are bigger and puffier than ever! Plus I have some this week that bloomed in a different pattern and some are solid red or orange. I don't know what zone you're in but do you have issues with slugs or other things? I do have something attacking one section of my plot the past month. It's leaving this white fuzzy and slimy stuff. Yellow leaves and small blooms after it took hold.

I learned the other day that those seeds are actually pods.... you have to squish the pods and inside are the seeds, they are really tiny! I think that's why they take so long to grow cause the seeds are stuck in the pod. And some pods empty. Ya gotta check them out.

I've had some of these for years. They have migrated from location to location in the yard just from naturally reseeding. I keep them deadheaded early in the year and let some of them go to seed later in the year. Keeping them deadheaded early in the year encourages more blooms and keeps them from getting out of control. I'm in central Minnesota and these bloom from late May or early June all the way up until probably mid October depending on how early the weather turns cold. I have even a few pictures I took of a bloom with a dusting of snow on them.

Yes, Goldfinches will eat White Millet but the slit holes in the finch feeder need to be large enough for it to pass.

Slurp slurp slurp! Chirp chirp chirp. I haven't seen this many robins in one place for, well, decades actually. Don't see even one very often. Still recognize the vocals. Nice to hear them again! Thank you.

I love blanket flowers. I have them in my front yard - it is almost July in western MA and they are just now starting to blossom. I thought I lost them this past spring but noticed little tiny shoots coming up and was not sure what it was and lo and behold………🌻

The goldfinches that visit my backyard ignores the nyjer seeds I have for them. They barely come to the feeders. The only reason they visit is because of the other loud songbirds around. I am thinking they are either not used to nyjer or there are enough thistle seeds around the area for them.

What a treat to see a new bird. I've heard of the eastern towhee, but never even heard of the spotted one.

Very cool! The reason I initially put out suet about six years ago was because of a forecasted cold spell and I thought of the chickadees and wanted to help them get through it. Then the downy and red bellied woodpecker came along instead. My chickadees seem to just go for the sunflower seeds. Glad you are looking out for them.

Great idea, thank you. I like to give my cats 1-2 of the milkweed floss\fluffies at a time to play with. They are hard to catch & make a nice toy.😊
