I’d say that most of this is bluesman music - that is, blues plus Andy Statman. Then Statman starts to take over.

There’s something about a song that just walks out of the fog of history. No one knows who first wrote it but everyone knew the song. I imagine my great great great grandfather singing it as they marched from battle to battle during the civil war.
