Hi Tony, I am using header pins Q1-Q4 to drive four relays on my Dig-Quad. Is there any way to tease one or two more outputs on the Quad for a couple more relays? I know there is a Q1R output, but that shares the same GPIO as Q1. There is a "1Wire" header pin exposed, but I don't know what that's for. I wouldn't mind doing a little surgery to the board to expose another pin or two, but don't know where to look. Thanks for any ideas that you have.
@thechristmaslightguyАй бұрын
Hey Tom - Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I was out of town for a wedding. Yes. You could use other GPI0s. The AE+ modules uses the following GPIO Pins. These should be available for addition relays. LED6 - GPIO 21 (AE+) LED7 - GPIO 17 (AE+) LED8 - GPIO 22 (AE+)
@TomInOhio2Ай бұрын
@@thechristmaslightguy Hi Tony, thanks for the reply and hope that you enjoyed the wedding! My DigQuad does not have an AE+ "hat" and I don't see that as an purchasable option in the Dr. Zzzz store. But, it is possible to use one or more of the four built-in ws2811 outputs as a relay output instead? It is just a matter of defining the correct output pin in the PixelStick interface? Thank you!
@thechristmaslightguyАй бұрын
Tom - I would try using the GPIO 0 (button). This is a pin just above Q1. See quinled.info/quinled-dig-quad-pinout-guide/ for pinout. I'm not sure about using Q1-Q4 since these outputs are level shifted. I would try to use the GPIO at the header not the LED output. It is just a matter of defining the correct GPIO output pin in the ESPixelStick firmware (relay).

Question: I am trying to use FPP to upload my sequence. its 30 mins long and seems to be crashing. is there a way to direct upload to the sd card from xlights to put into the board and then run from there?
@thechristmaslightguyАй бұрын
Yes. You can write the sequence to the SD card directly. Make sure the sequence is saved as "V2 Uncompressed". See xLights Preferences -> Sequences -> SEQ Version.
@thechristmaslightguyАй бұрын
Another option is to upload using FTP. If you are running the latest version of ESPixelStick firmware. There is an option to enable FTP. You can use an FTP client to upload the sequence to the controller without taking the SD card out. Make sure your FTP client is running in single port mode. I know FileZilla works but other FTP clients should work.

Thank you Tony for the video! May you explain how channels are assigned to relays? For instance, I plan to use four relays and three pixels strings on the Dig Quad. In xLights, these will be in universe 26 starting at channel 190786. In the ESPixelStick Device Setup screen, entered a Start Universe of 26, so that's good. Do the relays automatically get channels 190786-789 then the pixels take channels 190790+ ? There isn't a place to enter channels in the setup screen. Thank you!

If you use DDP protocol, there no need to worry about channels and universes. Xlights will assign the channels automatically.

I'm using 2 strands of seeds over 2 ports. The first strand has 448 seed pixels with power injection at the end of the strand (string) - 448th pixel.
