I mixed up some ebony, red mahogany and a walnut and some poly finish and the results were absolutely gorgeous! Lol but i can't recreate it 😂

When using the EXPERT Stain & Seal product, we recommend doing a basic wash with EXPERT Clean & Bright Eco Cleaner to remove any dirt/debris, and then reapply the stain with a brush or sprayer.

why not sand BEFORE washing/clean and brighten?

Because washing removes much of the old dead wood grain. Sanding also removes fuzziness caused by washing

I currently have Benjamin Moore Arborcoat exterior oil-based semi-solid stain on exterior pine accent logs on my home. It has been on my logs for about 2 years. I tried applying Benjamin Moore Woodluxe oil-based semi-solid stain over the existing stain in a test area, but it did not seem to cover well, after about one month there were areas that looked like it had washed off. All of the instructions for stains these days seem to call for removal of the existing stain, getting down to bare wood. This is next to impossible for for me to do. Is there an oil-based semi-solid stain that I can apply directly over the existing oil-based semi-solid stain without having to strip the logs to bare wood? Is it possible that the Woodluxe did not cover well because the existing Arborcoat is not sufficiently weathered to accept new stain? Any ideas?

Hey there, our deepest apologies for missing your comment. We understand your frustration, it sounds like the best option for you would be to take a look at the original coating used - the Benjamin Moore Arborcoat - on the recommendations for reapplying. Most (not all) but most oil-based products can be reapplied over themselves without having to strip, the Arborcoat may fall into that category.

Just redoing my deck i built 12 years ago. Its red cedar and it wss in great shape still. Lots kf wear and tear on the dog path to the yard. So i have opened a can of worms. I learned a ton by listenkng to this while i have embarked on my 100th hour of sanding! I have my deck almkst ready to stain and am really having a tough time picking which product. I used. Siekens SRD for the deck when i built it , and 80 percent if it was still great. It doesnt get the sun much where its located. Ill be doing maintenance coats now. Have tou lads had any experience with ready seal? For a diy giy like myself i have read nothing but good things. Anyways , thanks for the good listen. Enjoyed the info. Cheers

Hi Caleb, I have a cedar ceiling on my porch. 10 x 60’ the wood is original to the home and it’s 70 years old. It has some black staining and I would like to clean and seal it. I'd really appreciate some advice if you please? We have new fencing, an extension to what we had. The old fencing seems to have been stained. The new fence has turned gray so we have two colors and it looks really bad plus, we're off a busy road, so it's embarrassing.. After power washing one side (there is a lot of fencing) the stained fence looks the same, the grey, of course, went back to its natural bare color. Could you PLEASE help me to somehow get the fence match? Be one color? We don't have the money to pay a professional, my husband is a disabled Vietnam Vet and I have congestive heart failure (we're a great team huh?) So the easiest way, the better, Thanks again ever so much!!!

What is the reason why you cannot spray Bleach or chemicals from a backpack sprayer? You did not give the reason which is the most important part.

Notorious for leaking and will give you chemical burns.

I would have been more impressed if the dark planks despite being pine had come clean. If it was up to me I would have upped the pressure for those boards even if it furred the surface the reason being there would have been a new wood look continuity as opposed to clean cedar and grey black pine, for me the outcome in this video was a waste of time and money.

So the study they were not able to reproduce it, they were able to cite other reasons for specific failures previously siding glaze as the cause and yet you hang onto the notion of milk glaze being a thing why?
