Great video quality! I am very jealous haha. Love this set so much more than the newer version, they had so much better scale and details on this one.

Great video thanks for sharing. How did you get the cup to stay on the bbq turner
@ReformedWoodenCreations Жыл бұрын
I welded a screw to the end of the square rod that comes with the rotisserie. Then just screw it into the cup. Afterwards I fill the tiny hole with epoxy.

Help me understand the drive pulley. you stated it is a dual pulley..I have a lathe, so I can turn just about anything.Is it one single pulley divided in center and are you running two different cables. one to pull it forward and one to pull it in reverse..how are the cables attached to pulley if they are seperate. Thanks Larry
@ReformedWoodenCreations Жыл бұрын
Yes, it's one pulley split into two sections. Like a two sheave pulley. I crimped electrical eyelets onto the end of the cables and put a screw through them into the bottom of the pulley groove. Wrapping the cable over the top for forward and wrapping it under the pulley for reverse. I had to install a heavy spring on the back side to take up the difference it creates when the spool builds up with the cable. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks

These old tractor mounted backhoes are really neat. I know they aren't as strong or reliable as dedicated backhoes like the 580B, but they're still cool as heck
@ReformedWoodenCreations3 жыл бұрын
I dont know about reliable, but it is way stronger than I ever thought it would be. I picked up a 36" diameter oak log 8ft long. My brother said, no way it would pick it up. But she did, haha. I don't know much about the 580B backhoes to compare though. Thanks for watching.

Not sure if you’ve refined your process yet but you wearing your blade extra by not placing wedges in your slab as your mill goes along. You should try throwing some wedges in to take the weight off the blade as it’s cutting along you’ll probably find you get a lot longer ou of each shouldn’t be over heating like that. Then you can just resharpen it as it gets dull. Cheers though and great mill !
@ReformedWoodenCreations3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, when I first started sawing I did the wedges and then just kind of got away from it. It might be worth looking back into that, but with added coolant and a little faster feed I haven't been having that bad of an issue. I cut some boards 30" wide the other day and had a little bit of trouble with the saw dust almost gumming up. Thanks for the insight. I'll try the wedges again.

Hi I’m new to wood turning and was just wondering if it is safe to use tung oil on a cedar cup
@ReformedWoodenCreations4 жыл бұрын
I know people have used all kinds of oils, but I personally don't like it because it doesn't 100% seal the wood like epoxy if you plan to use it as a drinking mug or cup. I'm not sure on tung oil if its safe for consumption. Walnut, mineral and some other types of oil are safe. But you would have to apply it periodically through the life of the cup. I hope that helps and answers your question. Thanks so much for watching.

Nice to see this machine in action! I just picked up one of these planers, American WoodWorking Machiner Co. No.112. I am still learning about the machine. Any ideas where to find more information on it?
@ReformedWoodenCreations4 жыл бұрын
Not really, I've googled like crazy and haven't found much. KZbin has been my best resource so far. I'm still trying to figure out the belt orientation. It runs and cuts good, but I feel like I'm missing something on the belt orientation. I'm having to twist the bottom belt to reverse the direction and that doesn't seem right.
@zachtaylor86624 жыл бұрын
The bottom belt on mine was twisted when I got it. I have found a few catalogs on vintagemachinery.org and the videos you have posted. Other than that, I havent found anything on these planers. Have you tried running the bottom surface knives? I am trying to figure out the belt setup to run both. Also, without feed rollers after the bottom knives, I dont see how the planer feeds the board past the bottom set of knives.
@zachtaylor86624 жыл бұрын
I might have misspoke. When you say the bottom belt, do you mean the belt that runs from the bottom pulley up to the top knife shaft where you drive the planer?
@ReformedWoodenCreations4 жыл бұрын
That's awesome send me some pictures of yours. [email protected] I have not ran the bottom cutter head, mines missing the knives. I don't think my 9hp cub could pull it anyway. I too have wonder how the roller setup would work using the bottom head. The twisted belt I was referring too is under the belly where you have the 3 pulley sizes to change your drive rollers speed. If I flipped my top cutter head I could take the twist out.
