The word ‘Bark’ is not a misspelling the word Bark actually means ‘Boat’. And is the phrase used in more ancient times.

You are right!!! I completely overlooked the word "barque" which was an old sailing vessel! When I made the edit, I cross-referenced other translations of the gita, which all used the word "boat," and I think it's a good change, since most people don't know that bark=boat. Still... oops! Live and learn 😁

@@MeditativeInstruments thanks for replying. Sorry my previous message was short i had just boarded a flight. On that note i downloaded your video and listened to it during the flight and loved it. Agreed not many people would Know what a bark or barque is, so the use of boat is better. I only knew from my deep interest in ancient Egypt. Keep up the great work. Subbed 👍

Thank you for this feedback! I'm always curious to know what people think about details like the background noises. Some of what you are hearing was crafted in a modular synthesizer, particularly the rain and cave noises, then mixed with thunderstorm samples to get the final effect.

The ending drones on a bit (drum-fill, please). I wanted to leave a bit of "just the background music" for a dear friend who plays the flute (the same person who convinced me to try a flute in the first place!) This track marks my first anniversary playing the flute. I started on a Native American flute a little over one year ago. Over the next 6-7 months I learned a variety of flutes, including the Anasazi (ancient Pueblo), Ney (Arabic), Shakuhachi (Japan), Shinobue (also Japan), an assortment of Hall Crystal flutes, and even a modern silver flute before discovering what has become something of an obsession: the Bansuri (India). I've been playing it almost exclusively for about 6-7 months (for many hours a day), and this song represents what I can do at this point in my journey. I have much to learn.

This is lovely! Thank you. Can you play your modular synth in just intonation (acoustically pure tuning)? This would suit your music perfectly!
@MeditativeInstruments
@MeditativeInstruments 21 күн бұрын
Absolutely! The modular synth can be tuned in any manner, and (with a little work) any intonation. I even have a couple modules that assist with setting up Hindustani / Carnatic scales & intonation (not presently using them). For this track I tuned the modular synth to my G# bansuri, but then allowed a slight random de-tuning of each synth voice by up to 2 cents (up or down) to give some movement to the background.

@@MeditativeInstruments Excellent! North Indian classical music generally uses 5-limit just intonation, which acoustically pure tuning of specific ratios. I have several synths which allow tuning of the scale to these (and any other) ratios. It is necessary to know the cents offsets from equal temperament for each interval in order to set the synths properly. An example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kImUl3uBqM-ql6M

Does the literally endless spiritual discussions, theologies, conflicts, disagreements, beliefs, philosophies, videos, books, ideas, comparisons, etc, etc, etc, and the endless other etc's. ever bring about common understanding/acceptance/clarity/understanding to "it's this way, not that way, or neither of those ways but perhaps one of the millions of other ways? Any and all attempts to explain/communicate in any conceivable way, shape, or format what absolutely cannot be known....let alone placed in words = endless futility. You cannot know what cannot be known. Be the best person you can be....and hope all will fall in place one way or another. My Best To All.

One of the underlying principles communicated by the Ashtavakra Gita is that everything is already the way it is supposed to be, that there is nothing to do, nothing to know, no "ultimate knowledge" to be acquired that tells one "it's this way, or that way." If anything, it suggests to the reader to stop wasting time trying to find "the correct answers" and simply enjoy each present moment, arguably the only "time" that can be objectively shown to exist at all.

To truly ‘Know’ anything it must be directly experienced. This rings even more true in regards to the ineffable, which is beyond the mind, beyond all intellect and rational thought. Anyone can experience the infinite infinitude of Ultimate Reality , the Absolute Truth of unfathomable Love beyond conception. This is the infinite mystery unto which even GOD stands in awe. 5-MeO-DMT is the most effective & efficient method to elicit such an experience. 5-10 consecutive days in absolute darkness is the next most effective method to experience the totality of all that truly is, forever expanding into eternity✨♾️😉 ♾️🙏🏼💖

Well Said…. No there can never be total understanding much less agreement in Duality….yet each individual mind is at a different level of need and understanding. Most can’t comprehend such texts. Yes it seems like endless futility and one has to go through searching what cannot be found, comprehended by the mind. A word here, a phrase there brings a ray of light and even that ray sustains the heart…..

@MeditativeInstruments
@MeditativeInstruments Ай бұрын
It's a very difficult book to date. I've seen several theories, ranging from 600bce to 1300ce, and I'm not certain any of them are correct. I trend toward the opinion it was written by an anonymous master who used Ashtavakra as a nom de plume, but ultimately feel it doesn't matter too much. The content stands on its own, no matter who wrote it.

Ok now this is crazy, you seem to study hinduism yet you do not have your ego in check. Whats with all the "corrections" & "updates". And so many are just newspeak? Get this in check. Vedic texts are not meant to be updated or edited in any way. They clearly state so. Refrain from doing so. You are doing no one a favour. What you try to accomplish may be well meant but it is uncalled and unneeded here. Disliked
@MeditativeInstruments
@MeditativeInstruments Ай бұрын
If you can find a passage in the Gita that says it cannot be edited in any way, I'd be very interested. I've read many translations and have never seen such a thing. Now that I think of it, I can't think of a Vedic text that gives energy to such a notion. Most Vedic/Hindu authors trend toward reminding their readers never to accept anything on faith, even the very book they are reading, and to instead use their experience and meditation to evaluate any given statement for truth. I already explained in my intro that the change was made, so all that is left is for the individual listener to evaluate that change for truth. Regarding the reason for the change, it's probably natural, given the age we live in, for one to assume an edit like changing "him" to "one" has something to do with being trendy, but in fact my motive is directed by my understanding of Vedanta. A core principle -- if not THE core principle -- is that Everything is One. If one follows that idea far enough, one may conclude that this body is merely a vessel for consciousness, for the One. Male, female, human, animal: these are just labels we give to the varying vessels of consciousness that we can perceive. They are all One. The purpose of my change is to de-focus attention on properties of the physical vessel, and re-orient that attention inward, where it needs to be to understand Vedanta in the first place.

I cannot disagree. This is not presently a monetized channel for me, but apparently YT still runs ads on my content. I actually didn't know this and appreciate being made aware. Not much I can do about it, but I have been considering breaking the book up into shorter videos and combine them into a playlist. Not sure if this would lessen ads, but it should make relevant content easier to get to for someone studying the book.
