@@samueldisalvo7986 ya, lack of money or the cards unavailability should never stop someone from playing the game. All cards can be found online right now with pretty decent images for those who wish to print proxies. I’ve seen what the revival team has done with cards and stamping their name on it, I personally don’t prefer that either. I think it should look just as WOTC made them without any alterations. Again, just my opinion.

@@intothefloo1505 Hmm I guess I mean cards like Dobbys disappearance, Dobbys help, Venemous tentacular juice, etc. are so good most people would choose to proxy and use those versus cards they would normally get in boosters. I agree proxies are fine but there is something fun about building decks with cards you organically aquire you know? But considering cards are no longer in production I think that's no longer an option for most people.

@ ya, I kinda see what you mean but no matter what, a person can still only have up to 4 copies of a card (unless otherwise specified), so even if someone prints 4 proxy DD, that won’t impact their game when compared to someone else. I have personally acquired my whole collection by way of opening booster packs, at least in English, but I don’t think that means I shouldn’t have access to the same cards that someone else does just because I may have not had the money to invest in booster packs. I think having access to the same cards, especially with limited card quantities like we see in the Harry Potter TCG, it gives people an even playing field. I shouldn’t be able to build a better deck simply because I opened booster packs and got the cards that someone else didn’t have the ability to. Just my view.

​@intothefloo1505 Oh for sure I agree with what you're saying. I bought a couple starter decks and a booster box just to remember my childhood and appreciate the artwork of the cards. I put together a couple of decks to play with my gf and honestly this game is a blast I love it so much even if my card pool is limited and my decks kinda suck 😅

@@DJ-1Q84 Cool! It’s all about having fun with the game. The HPTCG has so much to offer and there’s so many variations to build a deck. In my opinion, it never gets old to try and build a deck with different starting characters and lesson combinations. Sometimes I learn about new combinations and ways to utilize starting characters that I never thought of which is why I think this game has so much to offer as it is. That’s also why I believe being able to print proxies gives people the chance of having rare cards in multiple decks as opposed to just one of them. I’m happy to hear that you were able to build some decks to play with your girlfriend. Consider playing with us sometime in the league if that interests you!

@@barrywade3774 I have experimented in the past with adventure and character decks. As you mentioned earlier, you noticed they don’t require lessons. In the character deck, I have ensured the characters I choose offer a lesson power which has benefited me as I add low costing spells. Although it’s possible to win, there is a lot of strategy and tactics required because you need to keep track of which characters do what. Ron Weasley is always my starting character for this type of deck because his ability allows us to play a character card using one action instead of two. I will make a video on that deck soon.

It’s my absolute favorite game and really the only one I play. I wouldn’t say I’m competitive, but I play often and really love it. @@intothefloo1505 have you read the Harry Potter Almanac? Do u think any of the artists whose illustrations are featured in that book has contributed to the 2000s Illustrative guide?

@@ianlove29 if I had to guess I would say yes. All of the non film character references that came out around the early 2000s are all owned by Warner Bros and a lot of the art has been recycled. This is why we see some of the art used on the game is the same for toys and other merchandise related to the Harry Potter franchise. For example, the Journey to Hogwarts illustration on the base set box is the same that we see on towels, puzzles, and other toys.

The game has been dead for over 2 decades but the prices of cards have fluctuated from chump change to monthly rent. Demands has impacted that of course but the grading of cards is a beast unto itself, one that I personally don’t entertain. I wouldn’t be the right person to ask about graded stuff tbh, just not my thing. Im really happy you found your place in the game though and I’d be happy to teach you how to play if you want! :)

No, it wasn’t banned in China. There are some great Chinese covers for the translated versions. These are just iterations that authors did on their own, using the characters and world developed just JKR.
