Great review Jason! FLOW could win the OSCAR this year! Here is a Q&A with the director of FLOW you might enjoy too! kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5_OhKCdmKqghJY

Thank you for the link! I watched the interview and it was very informative. Gints seems to a soft spoken and intelligent man. I found it interesting that they preferred the 3D animated technique due to the fact it was easier to animate certain scenes. The writing was one of the most difficult aspects of creating the film but they succeeded with the way they conveyed the story with no dialogue. I especially appreciated the detail of the opening shot being a mirror image of just the cat with the puddle rippling due to the anxiety at the beginning of the story and then the transition to the ending scene of the calm reflection in the puddle of all his friends with him. It was a detail I did miss but now remember after hearing Gints talk about it. It shows the care they put into this special film.

Thank you for a great and emotional review! I'm from Latvia, where this movie has been created, and we all are so proud of the whole Flow / Straume team! I bet, now it will be available in a lot more cinemas, as it has already received the Golden Globe (first time ever for a Latvian movie!) and is already available in more than 400 cinemas in USA, it is said. And when you'll go to watch it - don't rush out after the end, but wait until all the final credits are gone - you'll get a reward for the patience! ;)
@In2theVoid13 күн бұрын
Thank you for your kind words! Yes I was happy to see it won best animated picture at the Golden Globes! Much deserved! I had no idea it was created in Latvia. I will remember to watch until the final credits when I watch it again. It will be a movie I purchase for sure. Also, hopefully the good reviews and the fact it won a Golden Globe will make it more widely released in more theatres.

You can get in depth with anything whether it be a puddle or an ocean. They are silly, that’s why it is a guilty pleasure of mine to watch. Let’s be clear these movies are no citizen Kane or even something like a most recent watch like Heretic.

Just saw this in IMAX. There was some interesting eye candy but honestly I found myself wanting it to be over more than an hour before it was! I always sit for the credits. I didn't for this one. I just wanted to leave. I just couldn't follow it it. It seemed like disconnected, irrelevant ideas that don't go anywhere. The ending was too sterile and neatly wrapped up too quickly! I didn't know what I had just seen. I didn't know how we got from A to B. This confusion seems to be a common reaction and it would seem to be an odd goal for a film maker like Coppola! Since seeing it I've been educating myself about what it is and how it came about. I do have a feeling that this is going to be one of those movies that most of us didn't get at first (understandably so!) but becomes a classic in years to come once we have some context. It's almost as if it wasn't made for a general audience but for a select few movie insiders. It's like it's not meant to be generally understood in it's time! Though I left the theater frustrated and confused, I'm glad I saw it in IMAX. As frustrating as this film was, it had some great IMAX moments! Plus I'm a fan of Coppola's work generally. Maybe I'll visit this film one more time when it comes to Home Theater.
@In2theVoid3 ай бұрын
All the points you make mirror my own. I can see maybe this becoming a cult classic in the years to come but only time will tell if this comes true. I am glad as well that I saw it in IMAX so it wasn’t a total letdown but it’s never good when you want the movie to end.

Elizabeth DID NOT seek out the substance, why can't you pple get the damn plot right. Did you bother to even watch the movie, or did Ai write it for you?
@In2theVoid3 ай бұрын
Yes she did seek out the substance after she initially was reticent to call the number that was given to her after throwing it out. True she learned about it at her doctor visit. But even being hesitant at first, she still ended up seeking it out. The lure was just too much for her. Society favors the young in all things after all. Maybe be more constructive in your criticism next time. Don’t be so quick to attack. It’s ok to disagree but do it in a more respectful way. SnarkierThan-U-R indeed.

@@In2theVoid NO, she didn't. After the accident the nurse who was treating her told her she was a "Good Candidate" before handing her the card with the number. I mean it's beyongd the scope of the movie but she could basically mass murder a school with it and no one would know. that small step into looking into what this stuff could really do if genetic manipulation an chemestry it went far enough for it to became a real thing.
