This game has a ridiculous amount of “hidden” mechanics in and out of battle, and an equally absurd amount of optional content/branching pathways. Why do today’s games feel so “Iinear” by contrast, when even in this game there is more or less a “single direction” to ultimately progress towards as with all RPGs, these random/hidden/obscure details it’s so easy to miss make the world feel larger/your choices more important

As a kid I could of sworn I had Geno Whirl work on Johnny once but I couldn't ever pull it off a 2nd time to prove it. That wasn't something to strange for kid me tho since I basically never managed to time that move right which is why I remember it so strongly. Everything I see as an adult suggests its impossible tho. Granted I have seen some weird glitches on cartridge games before so I can't fully rule it out.

Hi, I work in QA and have plenty of experience with QAing boss fights. Taking a look at your vid, specifically with Geno Whorl ability being used against Exor. Your vid is correct in that the Exor boss immunity scripting is pointing to a bug. However, we would also need to look at Genos ability being cast to see what flags it has as well. In regards to how the dev kept this in for the remake, it's a choice. There are some bugs out there, that may not necessarily need fixing. If you defeat Exor using Genos Whorl successfully. I would argue your fun is more important than the fight being bug free. So long that Geno using it in that capacity doesn't soft lock or cause other issues 😊

He is still there after so it a infinite money glitch too (sell only for 1 coin tho)
