Elliott was prescribed Gabapentin (Neurontin) for partial seizures, which was approved for treatment of partial seizures by the FDA in 1993. It wasn't until 2014/15 after a string of overdoses involving narcotics paired with gabapentin that it became more clearly known that gabapentin potentiates opioids.
