im 3 years late but idc so uhm, my pride actually seems good when you just you know watch it. If you watch it trying to understand the characters, pride law etc. the scenario is SO novice written. No details at all, when you try to catch a connection between lots of things, well, youre kinda not able to do it yk. I hate seeing well-animated series with and novice written scenario sm

I'm a big big fan of I Hope So. This video was really nice to watch! I felt seen, because though I enjoyed a bit My Pride, I was always feeling... weird and drained after. I'm lgbt+ and disabled, and so, yeah, I Hope So is my favorite comic. I hope to see it as an actual book one day! Also, I wish there would be more show/movies/comics like this one, because it's such a beautiful gift in a society like ours! 💙🐺

What i never understood was, just how did the pride not realise that Nothing was still alive? I mean sure, Proud told them that he had killed her, and they were just like, "fair enough? no need to look into that!" We saw the pride give Sharptounge a lion-funeral so like, did they just not roar for Nothing? That seems way too cruel even after such a big fight. Like, if Nothing mattered so much to her abelist asshole of a mother, maybe they'd show Powerstrike grieving or something.

I love how many people come back every so often to watch this video. I do too. It’s a great essay that shows the flaws of a show of which I thought some things were off but couldn’t put my finger on. It’s helped me better define my own characters, too. Another creator, Titanium Shortcake, who also watched your video and has rewritten the first season and a second season as fan- content. It’s really good. It doesn’t paint Nothing as a lioness who gets beaten around all the time and wallows in her self loathing, but actually the strong, courageous inspiration she was supposedly written to be in the original show. Hover is actually a good girlfriend and character in that version. Fire didn’t turn out to be an a-hole. Powerstrike actually loves her daughter but feels like she’s stuck between that and fulfilling her role within the pride (she’s not abusive but doesn’t act against Nothing getting abused by the others either, out of fear of what will become of her and her other kids). I won’t spoil anything else because it’s really good!

This show came out when I was 14, I remember being so happy and excited seeing the new episodes come up in my recommended and I adored the series. I was a young sapphic teen and seeing wlw rep in easily an accessible media (because it’s on KZbin) overjoyed me (I wasn’t able to watch any tv shows/movies including lgbt rep due to my parents). This was the first series I watched that included this type of rep and the fact that they were animals made me all the more happy. I grew especially attached to Hover, didn’t understand the feeling at the time but it was essentially some form of gender envy/“I want to look like her” since butch representation was even more lacking. I rewatched the series a few months ago and I was appalled by what I was seeing. The representation in every form was so awful, the writing was awful, the series made no sense in terms of its lore. This video helped put my feelings into words so well. Might be an extreme take but I honestly loathe the creator for making this series, I can’t imagine how many other young queer teens felt the same as me, blinded by the prospect of representation when we had none elsewhere only for the representation to be THIS (and being way too young to see the series for what it is. If you would’ve shown this video to me at 14 I would’ve just brushed it off as hate lol). The masc lesbian in me especially despises the way Hover was written (shame because I adore her design), she had so much potential to be a supportive partner to Nothing and instead she only contributed further to her abuse. God awful series, I’m so happy it won’t get any more seasons. Thank you for making this video! I love your oc btw :) (I’ve also read a bit of “I hope so” and I can’t thank you enough for also making that series, took the potential that My Pride stomped on and made it into one of the best webcomics I’ve ever read. It’s been awhile since I last checked in on it but I’ll 100% go back to re-read again because of this video).
