I want to reach out like you said, and tell you my thoughts… First off I want to thank you got your generous time!! Putting these videos out there for others to learn. Here is why I believe what you said, and why it’s so important. My Grandmother years ago, when I was little wanted to teach me different things, crochet, piano, sewing, quilting and baking. My mother worked a job from 6:30 am to 4:30 pm. She came home tired and could only do cooking before retiring to bed. She raised 4 of us. So, my Grandma picked up many things my mom didn’t have opportunity to do, plus my mom didn’t do many of these things. My Grandma told me this… “ I have a daughter I wanted to hand down all these things to, but none of them appealed to her except the piano and music. She was my only daughter, and you are my only Grand daughter! So, it’s important to me to teach you as much as I can, so that what my mother & grand mother taught me will still be going. Then years from now, you can teach your daughter if you have a little girl, or boy… boys like some of these things too. So , as you learn I want you to pay attention and listen, learn well, so that you will be able to do all these things and make beautiful things like the things in my house that you love so much.” With that I told her how much I loved her and that I wanted to do as much as I could, and learn everything I can! With that she smiled and told me she loved me. She lives to be nearly 102 years old, just shy by 4 months. She was the absolute light of my life, and until her death I listened and learned many things including advice in life and homemaking. That being said, she did not know how to knit, but she taught me crochet. For me knitting is totally knew, many things you talked about are a lil different but I knew basically what you were talking about. I feel like you have a great outline to a wonderful program coming up, and I too am excited in watching all your videos and learning from them all. But because of my Grandma, I feel like handing down these valuable lessons to indeed address starting your own heritage of Love! 💕 and For me, I do consider your time and efforts very valuable. I ask GOD to bless you and all your endeavors! 🥰🧶😇

Thank you so much for this wonderful tutorial! You have cleared up all my stress and I've been able to get past being stuck in my project. I learned to knit socks with heel flap and gusset, but I needed a short row heel for a pattern I wanted to make that had colourwork, and needed a heel that would not interfere with the pattern. I tried a few different things but just ended up confused and frustrated and not ending up back with the right number of stitches and in the correct place in the pattern. Thanks to your tutorial I have beautiful looking heels and the pattern is back on track! Huge sigh of relief, thank you.

@EarthtonesgirlPodcast
@EarthtonesgirlPodcast 10 күн бұрын
Thank you for purchasing my pattern. Usually the instep stitches on are one dpn and the heel stitches are divided over the other 2 needles, knitting with the 4th. This is based on using 4 dpns. My pattern is not written for a particular technique but If you need a visual tutorial there are many available here on KZbin.

I enjoyed your video. The socks are beautiful. I have a sock I'm working on right now I am going to finish toe with the round toe. I was using this technique of knitting I thought I made up myself but I found a video that showed exactly what I was doing and it's called "flicking". It is a very comfortable way to knit. I can also knit a row very quickly. I know a few styles of crochet and knit but I like this flicking. I bought this little crochet ring on Amazon it's about $4 and it is very useful with crochet and I did figure out a way to use it for knitting. It helps with tension and keeps yarn from tangling up into loop needles. I have been knitting socks with the Jeans brand yarn and I love it. Very soft and surprisingly stretchy for being 100 percent cotton. Reasonable price and each ball makes one sock. I don't have much left over.

@EarthtonesgirlPodcast
@EarthtonesgirlPodcast 17 күн бұрын
I didn’t show it because this video assumes that you have knit a shadow wrap short heel already, and this is taking you to the next level showing you, as it says in the description, how to knit the heel two at a time in a contrasting color. If you check the description box, I have linked to the original basic tutorial that takes you through all of the steps from start to finish, including the triple stitch.

I I have knitted both cuff down and toe up. Regardless of what people say, IMO, there is a difference in the way the pattern looks. Since i am anal, i prefer cuff down. Since the premise is , you can try it on as you go, you can do that with either process, especially with 2 circulars. This demo was certainly helpful.

Denise, it’s me again. I don’t know how else to reach you. I had the first half of the shadow wrap heel done but had a mistake on the second half and ripped back to the start. I now have 12 shadow wrap on each side and 10 in the center and they look lovely. One problem. I am on a purl row (when I got to the 11 shadow wraps on each side) I just finished a RS row and I’m on a purl row. the second half of the heel starts with a RS. What did I do wrong and what can I do to correct it? Overwhelmed for sure.
@EarthtonesgirlPodcast
@EarthtonesgirlPodcast 25 күн бұрын
Hi Susan, While you are welcome to leave comments here and i will see them. You can also email me at [email protected] Now to answer your question. It sounds like you knit 1 row to many. After you reach the 11 stitches on each side ( you said you have 12 on each side and 10 in the middle which would give you 34 stitches. which is fine if your total number of stitches is 68) and 10 in the middle ( on the second half of the heel) you should be on a RS row and be in position to return to knitting in the round. Your next stitch will be on the instep after you've knit the last triple stitch. Does that make sense? I hope so. let me know.
@susanmcbride587
@susanmcbride587 25 күн бұрын
@@EarthtonesgirlPodcast I started on a RS row. Ending I have 11 on each side and 10 on the middle but I’m on a wrong side row to start the triple instead of a right side row. How that happened is anybody’s guess. I don’t want to re-do it I was thinking of purling the middle 10 turning and being in the proper spot.
@EarthtonesgirlPodcast
@EarthtonesgirlPodcast 25 күн бұрын
@@susanmcbride587 I wish I could help more but it's hard to know what happened. I know re-doing/ripping out is a bit frustrating but some times it's necessary. Everything is a learning/teaching opportunity. Ultimately the choice is yours. You can purl the center stitches and see what happens.

I’m not getting this. I Knit as if you’re doing a k2 T and then separate the two stitches on the needle and knit the stitch on the right. Are there 2 sts on the needle when finished? Mine does not look like a baby cable. Now if I use a small stitch holder for a cable needle and put stitch one in back, knit stitch 2 and then knit stitch 1 it looks fine. Would doing this with the cable stitch be ok. Is that the same cable?
