How is this a calibration? You haven't calibrated anything. Shouldn't the point of the video be to rectify a badly calibrated saw?

As a new carpenter your videos are invaluable Gary, thank you very much A question: what to do if the existing jamb/wall is considerably out of plumb? Enough that the door would open/close due to gravity. Install the hinges plumb and have the door out of wind with the jamb? Thanks

Excellent video. I haven't seen anything produced more recently that takes the time to go into this level of detail and with this level of clarity. I would have bought the DVD set back in the day! It's funny, around 27-28 minutes, I noticed you were an inch short on your measurement and I was shocked until I realized you did it intentionally to make a point 😅

I don't know why he is subtracting the whole inch and half off the rafter length for the ridgeboard up top if the centre of ridge is centre of the span ,it should be half the thickness of the ridge board three quarters??

When diagonal measuring in confirming squaring to the placement in the building's window hole, how does that work if you are measuring off the kiddy corners in a factory framed window?

Hey! I have an older super split I picked up used and dead and rebuilt everything. I put a 7hp Robin motor on it and the thing splits faster than I can keep up with, I absolutely love it and couldn’t live without it! I love that it’s made in the US and I can easily still get parts for it also, they’re a great company. BTW your pre hung door installation and hinge adjustment videos have been an immense help to me recently, they’re extremely well done and easy to follow. I just want to say thank you!! Enjoy your Super Split, it’s a beauty!🙌🏻

It's the Model J. For my personal use, I couldn't see getting the HD model. I kinda feel I went overboard and could have bought a splitter for 1k less, easily, but...

Thank you! I have watched so many videos on this topic. This is the first one that explains the HAP measurement and how it affects the placement of the ridge beam. So many other videos will cut an arbitrary size of birds mouth and do not tell you the implications it has.

Do you offer course anywhere? I'm in Canada but will travel anywhere in the USA to learn more. Getting serious about handrails. I have a background in mechanical engineering technology from 20 years ago but need refreshers on the CAD aspect and hoping to get hands on carving as well. Great video, thank you!

I feel so stupid from all the years I made excuses for not being able to produce perfect cuts on irregular circumstances where I should have been able to correct the problem. God forgive me. I get it now ! Don’t ever think you know it all because you don’t. We can all learn something beneficial everyday if we just pay attention and look for the lesson that might come our way

The video was incredible. You remind me of Norm from this old house or the new Yankees workshop. That’s all I had to go by except books back in the 80’s. I get most of everything you’re doing but you had valuable tricks that clicked in my brain making a huge difference how I proceed from here. I’m never too old to learn. I wish everyone could say the same. I’m definitely not too proud to say I’ve been doing it for 40 years the wrong way. Not entirely wrong because I’ve had good results however I could have been better.
