I don't want to come off as rude, but I think you were sheathing it the wrong way. Like, the sheath's tip was facing the camera, but when you unsheathed it, the knife's tip was facing away. I don't know if that could damage it or not, so I figured I should say something; it did look like it was a bit tough to unsheath, so that might've been the cause. Otherwise, beautiful knife; it's obviously a classic design, but they've executed it very well.

I would try a stereo jack output with the guitar signal using the tip, the thermin using the ring and ground being common. i would think a diode would be used too to keep the guitar signal from engaging into the thermin circuit to the output jack or vise versa or possibly both. I don't think i would try a potentiometer blend unless it had a diode gate with it. We're talking about using a magnetic field to activate a pickup and an dc voltage to activate a frequency... By experience if you short a phone plug cable while hooked into an amp input for awhile it will create a short in the preamp section with no signal flowing to the output stage. So in stereo mode you could create a project box where the stereo 1/4 inch cable from the guitar enters the box and enters a "y" output ( For separation). one output jack ( mounted in project box ) going to a individual input channel on a mixer and likewise with the other output of the other output jack in the project box.
@danmontgomery.8 ай бұрын
Thanks, Richie!! The stereo jack was one thing I have been looking at. The extra diode to keep everything flowing in the right direction is a great idea!!
@richieracer41628 ай бұрын
Hmmm...interesting. That could create many endless possibilities being that it is activated by light. I would try some color light gels or even par 38's with colored gels from a distance. Light giving off different spectrums could cause different frequencies to react...in theory... Also i wonder if a 555 timer could be incorporated or integrated within the schematic to create a pulse (on-off-on-off, etc.) Audio Effect @ a specific rate or variable set with a potentiometer linked with the 555 timer... Then plug into a wah pedal...hmmm😲😯😲

I don't have any experience but I want to get into building as a hobby. So I'm sure this is a stupid question, but couldn't you put some superglue in that divot to take up some space and maybe make it a little easier to work with? Do you have any suggestions on what kind of kit I should start with having no experience? I'm a computer technician but have never worked with wood.
@danmontgomery.11 ай бұрын
At the time of the repair, I was planning to just clear-coat the natural wood. But even my method for the repair would not take a stain to hide it. I have found you can use about anything as a filler, depending on what you are going to lay on top of it. At least that is my experience with some tests on scrap wood.
