All in all, an FXX is easier to sail than a monohull or cat, and is trailable, meaning you don't have to pay slip fees if you don't want to. F31's and F33's have been used to sail oceans. My F28R did fine in smaller seas and short ocean passages. Few want to sail in 20 ft seas in any kind of yacht.

It's terrible how much water rises on the deck while sailing on a river or lake. At sea, it looks like a real submarine, low bow, but small, shallow, they don't come out of the water, you just wait for them to completely dive.

They are designed to run bow down stern high. This reduces windage and offers greater speed. All modern trimarans are designed this way.

I'm looking foward to buy one of these this summer but I'm just worried of how bad of heavy weather you can take with these F-31. If you get caught in 20ft waves blowing 50kn on an ocean passage, is it still managable or you are pretty much FUBAR at that point with a trimaran ?
@danielsprouls9458
@danielsprouls9458 2 жыл бұрын
I see it has two reef points and reef lines built into the boom for easy reefing. A double reefed main and no jib is pretty stable in heavy air. Its a bit touchy tacking without a jib and easy to go into irons. However if you ease the main sheet going into the tack and trim back after the tack it works pretty well. My 24 is rigged the same way. I am usually pretty calm about these things but 50 knots would certainly get my attention.

@@danielsprouls9458 I disagree.. Disagree... well.. I've have an other point of view... My Mainsail is Huge 50m considering my solent 25. 7/8 mast. 10 meters lenght Tri boat. But, i never reef it down Instead down winds... My gennaker is 50... We must be prepared!!!! And even, better take down it, but maintain it. with the lowest level... Sorry for my english.... My meaning is that my tri cannot be driven with only the mainsail... You must have at least a solent in the front... Otherwise, i cannot really handle it in backward winds. How hard is it to tip one over?
@id10tcertified
@id10tcertified 3 жыл бұрын
For a seasoned skipper and crew you’d pretty much have to want to tip one over, if racing the same: for a newb to sailing you’d probably be past your comfort zone but in saying that, the best of them have done it but most who do are sponsored racers and pushing it. Have a look at the big ones racing, they bury the bow, stop and bounce out backwards.

If you put in a reef and take a couple of rolls out of the headsail at 12 knots boat speed it increases your safety margin considerably.

Check out Tula’s Endless Summer! kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpbTqI2epdV0f68 There is also evidence that several models can and do crossings regularly! helmsyacht.squarespace.com/corsair/ Monohull snobs, or those jealous, will always naysay. Another perk with these is you can save the ware and tear, ship them in a container, and meet it at your port of choice. Considering the refit after a crossing and how much life a boat has, this can really be a money/boat saver in the long run.

Hi, yes it´s always a great fun to sail a Corsair like this. In fact it is a cruiser, unfortunately,like you see, we have 2 Bimini, a fridge, watertank, the heavy Honda, and a lot of extra weight in the boat. Although we had a top Speed of 18kn +.
@donjvalley

I could tell that you were doing 15-knots+++. I've been a long-time Corsair Trimaran fan and took my first sailing lesson in Pattaya. I'm much more interested in a 'cruiser' than a 'race' vessel but with cute girls, on board as crew, I wouldn't mind finishing "last" in every race!!! I would be easily satisfied with an F-27 or C-28CC but if I win the lottery before yours is sold, which isn't likely --- well, it's a short flight from Bangkok and none is better equipped...I follow many channels on YT --- Thank you, again, for sharing your videos...

It is supposed to have a 2:1 system. You have a line from the mast base connected to a Ronstan Shock Block, then another line from the mast base with a free end. The free line goes up and through the sail tack grommet, then through the shock block and back through the tack grommet. When you pull it, the shock block will most likely come up and through the grommet and then the free end is cleated in the clamcleat that is attached to the port side of the mast near the bottom.
