CONGRATULATIONS loved the intercept. I would like to know if I would be able to share this arrangement for graduation music list. I'm from Manaus-Am Brazil and I'm putting together my graduation recital and I would very much like this arrangement to be my recital. I would be very honored with this collaboration.

Skilled organist -- the section where the organist omits the melody so that the "quartet" may shine is particularly good.

Em... a lovely performance considering the profound challenges of matching phrasing online. My only question is: why did the organist not end on the tonic? I'll admit it's been quite a while since I've done any harmonic analysis, but I'm fairly certain that Bach ended this on the I chord. Is this a modern Lutheran thing?

Thanks, Brian. I tend to prefer the sound I get when I think that I'm articulating out to my slide. To my ear it has a richer, more present quality, but that's just my preference. I'd encourage you to experiment with the concepts and see how they work in your playing. Please let me know if you find out anything interesting or have anymore questions. Thanks again for watching!

I don't understand completely what you you mean by tonguing to the chops and to the slide. Would you elaborate on that?
@kirkcferguson3894
@kirkcferguson3894 9 жыл бұрын
Hi Jonathan, Thanks for watching and good question. This concept is a visualization tool. I don't try to do anything differently, I just think in a different way and that changes how I play. When I tounge out to the slide, I just think that my air stream is going all the way out to whatever slide position I'm at. When I'm playing to my chops, I lose track of where my slide is. I'm no longer putting the airstream out to the slide. I'm not resonating the full tube length. The instrument isn't vibrating to its full potential. Does that make more sense? - Kirk

+K Ferguson I just typed up this example that might be a little more coherent: I just think that my airstream is going out to the slide. It's a visualization tool. I'm not trying to do anything differently, I just have a different thought or intention when I play. It's a bit like when someone is asked to project their sound to the back of the hall. You don't know exactly what you're doing differently, you just play with a different intention and it changes sound. Same thing with this concept. Nothing mystical, just thinking that your airstream is meeting the slide on every note.
