An angel with six wings is like a fox with nine tails, but cranked up so many times. This is a very high-rank opponent. It speaks a lot about the innate strength of the Hakurei maidens that Reimu could beat such an opponent without even being able to control the Ying Yang Orb yet. Screw Mima, Yuuka, and Shinki, it's against Sariel where we learn most clearly that Reimu Hakurei is supposed to be a Really Big Deal. Speaking of this opponent... how the heck did Sariel end up residing in Makai? Because I personally think a six-winged angel is too inherently powerful in its own right for her to be just another creation of Shinki. I've currently headcanoned it so that Sariel was banished to Makai for some misdemeanor (think Byakuren but written less sympathetically), because what better punishment could you inflict on an angel than to trap them in a realm of demons?

Zun messed up his Angels by making Sariel's second form "wheels within wheels". That's a Ophanim/Chariot thing, not a Watcher (what Sariel is supposed to be) thing. Still a banger.

Well, this is certainly the most un-Touhou-like Touhou game ever. Guess I'll harry up and watch this video. ^^ Could you imagine the alternate universe where ZUN decided this game's formula was a good idea and continued to make Arkanoid clones? I'm surprised there hasn't yet been an official game that calls back to this one, if only to retcon it as "Reimu's failed professional beach volleyball career". D:

Fun fact: The Japanese version of this game is called Touhou Gensoukyou (aka Gensokyo) which is the main game setting.
