Informative presentation. Great integration with keyboard commands and mouse. I would like to keep an event visible when it has been cancelled (strike through) as it is a most useful record. Currently, once an event is deleted/cancelled, it disappears...any wisdom in this area? Thanks.

As of 1/2025 this video is no help / clearly with the new phones & software 18.2.1 My Iphone 15 plus looks much different, with that said I followed along ad all the settings you recommended were already set-up on all my devices. Do you have an updated version of this video. I thank you in advace.

Thought this video would be for troubleshooting in case the basic steps of turning it on don't work. It isn't, though, it's just instructions on how to turn it on in the first place. Just in case anyone was here for the same reason as me! Now to try and find something that can actually help me when these steps don't work...

Hi Justin! My approach is actually both... when clients come to me with iMessage not working, the settings I check to fix it are in the order that I show in the video and I always check them in that order. So it's both first time setup, and also "if it's not working these are the things to check first in this order". What's happening with your iMessage, specifically? I might be able to point you to the right spot in your settings.

Your Video did not help at all. I tried dragging my files over to my external hard drive from. Finder to my external hard drive on my desktop and nothing happens.

This is a great video, and I followed along to the "T", multiple times, but on my iPhone 16 pro Max running iOS 18.1.1 and my MacBook Pro running Sequoia, my messages on my MacBook Pro still won't sync with my iPhone! So FRUSTRATING!!!!

If you set it all up as I have it in the video then the sync will take a couple days. When did you finish the sync fixing? Your phone will also only sync the older history when it's on Wifi and plugged into power. IE overnight as long as you leave it plugged into power vs turning it off or putting it in airplane mode.

Yes you do need to go one by one... if you want all notifications turned off then I would look at using Focus or Do Not Disturb instead.

I’m in the process of potentially switching from Windows to Mac. I just want my docs that I double click in email to download and POP UP ON MY SCREEN RIGHT THEN AND THERE. Having to move down and find it at the bottom the screen every time is annoying AF. I’m finding myself having to incorporate work-arounds a lot for basic functionality and not sure I can stick with this purchase. Ugghhh

My android friends can't access my "shared library" from my mac devices. Is there a fix for them?

Hi Shelley! There's no easy / automatic syncing option for them... are they family members and you would want them to have ongoing access to family photos, as you take more? Or is it more like you want to send them a batch of photos and then be done with that one share? If you want ongoing sharing then the move might be to get all your photos into Google Photos, but there are downsides of doing that for you. If you want to do just one big share then I would use the iCloud Link option. You might need to give them a tutorial on how to download from the link. I have an older Mac,. Although I have updated it to the latest version of iOS, your solution options are different in my computer. I message was nowhere to be found on the system preferences. I went through setting and other avenues but have no luck. What do you suggest is the newer solution?

The extra step for the newer versions of iPhone OS is that you go into Settings, then down to the bottom for Apps, THEN you go to Messages. Then everything else in my video is still accurate.

This is fine if you ONLY take photos with an iPwn and you don't think that OWNING your tools and data is worth anything. To rent iCloud from Apple would cost me well over $1000/yr! And Apple has deliberately made it nigh impossible to keep your own LOCAL libraries (completely OUT of iCloud). Also, using Photos LOCKS you in HARDER to Apple's hidden walled garden. AARGH! I want OUT. I want my 1mil RAW NEFs, my 500k RAW others, my 5k film negatives, my jpgs, pngs, bmps, gifs, and my iPwn HEIFs to all show up and let me sort them out in a functional program. iPhotos, Aperture, Photos have all CRASHED hard and left me with a dozen or more broken obfuscated hidden libraries of random files. (yes, I can dig down into them and (maybe) at least find my originals.... but I don't want to even try importing all that into another Apple product. I want something that WILL WORK, and leave my file structure visible and open for future programs. DarkTable is showing promise.

Yeah the database format of iPhoto and the Photos app will ruin the life of anyone who wants files and folders for their photos. I apologize on behalf of Apple but this is just how it works! I would definitely be able to help you get all your photos out of the various nooks and crannies but I bet you wouldn't be stoked to spend the $145 USD per hour on my help... those three nano sized buttons on the "left side" of the window are useless in mac there is virtually no difference between close and minimize, and the resize button is a mess of its own

Yep I never use them. I always use command-w to close a window. When I want a bigger window I double click corners.

Full screen on Mac is the same as full screen in Linux, so if you came to Mac from Linux it would make more sense.

How do you mark an event as completed? Also is there a setting so when you are creating an event to know if you have a conflict either a event already scheduled?

Not sure how to mark an event as completed but I bet I could help you figure out the best option for this. And when you make an event with Siri she will tell you when there's a conflict. But even that is a bit of a learning curve (what to say to Siri exactly). I hope Apple Intelligence will help with this.

I use gmail as my email address on iPhone 14 as well as MacBook Pro and IMac. I typically look at emails on my phone and delete most of them on a daily basis. When I go to my MacBook Pro all of the emails are still showing up and not syncing and deleting (or saving depending on what I do). I end up with hundreds or over a thousand emails that I have to delete or review again. How can I get this sync to happen so that what I do on one device carries over to the others?

Nice to hear from you! Generally that problem requires some amount of technical troubleshooting, so it would help if I can see it. The fix is usually to just remove and re-add the Gmail account on your Mac but there are some risks and downsides that I would want to prevent. Just need to sign into each one via their website and change your password there, and then say yes to saving the password in your Mac.

Ah yes the pause happens if the phone is only on battery or only on cellular... so the fix is to keep your phone on wifi and plugged into power as much as possible!

My iphone updated... and...you know we all hate that. it is like a foreign object to me now. So my phone is unplugged much of the day as I am on it - and I am having issues.
