Our mothers family was from near Belfast.....Killyleagh. Interesting to see where they sailed from when they emigrated in the 1880's!

This is very nice. I have been thinking doing Camino de Santiago for a while, so I am glad to come across your channel and seeing what your experience has been like. Keep up the lovely work and all the best on your journeys.

When we did the Camino Frances our only son had died. We quit our jobs and retired. Later we moved to Kelowna and 🎉then to Halifax. We moved back to Calgary after my cancer diagnosis. After losing 50 lbs I finally feel like I am ready again. We are doing the coastal Portuguese Camino on electric bikes in 2025. This will be our 3rd Camino. Wish me luck.
@Roamingtherange9 ай бұрын
Good luck. I’m thinking about the Portuguese way next year myself. The experience of the Camino was really unexplainable for me. Walking by myself for days was really enlightening. Meeting the people was amazing also. Again, Good Luck!

How did you do it with the Albergues? Did you have to book them?
@Roamingtherange9 ай бұрын
I did not get any reservations at all. But it’s getting into the high season. I was told 2500 people would be arriving to Santiago. I did book my hotel in Santiago 2 days before. I was glad I did this. After Sarria, the trail got very busy. I hope this helps.

You have no idea. It was different every night. One night 18 people in bunk beds on plastic mattresses, rolling and snoring all night. Hotels from then on. Much better. After Sarria the trail is very busy.

I second that idea! Go beach side. Or rent a plane and go for a Cruz
@TheSarahreichardt9 ай бұрын
We vote you get rid of everything but the poncho! And you can pack your day bag away while you are walking the trail and still use it when you stop for the day. Just keep your water and snacks at the top of your pack.

Hi. Happy walking. Btw, I suggest that you put "Camino Frances" in your title, to be more specific. There are several routes (as you prolly know) and some are more interested in one route (e.g. Frances, Norte, etc) than others. Buen camino!
