I’m coming from the future where we have iPhone 16 and iOS 18, you really SHOULDN’T update your phone past the version you got it in, most apps require you only to have the last 3-4 versions or so. For those crying about security vulnerabilities, you can download security updates while on a lower iOS version. The problem with updating is that you’re stuffing your iPhone with a whole load of features it was never designed for, causing it to be slower and eat more battery life. iPhones aren’t built to last anymore unfortunately, so the optimal way to keep your phones lifespan as long as possible is to just update the version your phone came from out of the box until you have to update to the next major version, at that point you stop and keep that same major version until apps stop working, then update it. The phone will slowdown and your battery will drain dramatically, this is normal. Once your battery is absolutely cooked, replace your phone. This should take around 4 years more or less. I’m unsure if keeping an older version of iOS would cause it to slowdown for any reason, but I haven’t tested this method, so I wouldn’t really know. Also, you might not be eligible to trade in your phone if you kept it for longer than 3 years however, so this kind of varies from carrier to carrier

I did breakdown and buy a 14 pro about 18 months ago. The battery in my 6s was weak and the charging port was wearing out from charging it so often. I replaced the battery and port in the 6s and I use it for music/video now, since apple killed the 1/8" audio jack on newer phones. But I agree 100% with you. Apple has auto update ON by default on the new phones. After they snuck in one update, I was sure to switch that setting to OFF. Hopefully my 14 will last as long as my 6s did.

a very humid house + cold windows means your windows will be completely soaked and dripping all the time. or if it gets down to -25 to -40 the ice will freeze into the base of the windows and cause damage. especially if your windows are old. it wrecks shitty windows and wrecks paint and drywall. ask me how i know. that’s a tenant damage deposit i’ll never get back.

The people that are complaining about the moisture must live in a humid environment. Living in dry state, humidity levels can end up around 20-30% through winter.
