Does anyone know why the bolt can break shortly after a belt replacement ?

Hi I'm in Swindon, out of your area I know. Can you recommend any mechanics as good as you near me that could change my wetbelt?

Hello, this has happened to me, the van has had the wet belt changed recently, after a few hundred miles,the idler pulley bolt between the crank and fuel pump had snapped, all the backlash gears have come off and made a right mess, also it has snapped the wet belt tensioner clean in half, the idler pulley bolt was never messed with during this procedure as it’s not needed, only turned the crank over with the 24mm crank pulley bolt. Any info on why or how this would happen would be gratefully appreciated, thanks

Just had mine done at 83k miles. Original belt had swollen and was rubbing on the pulleys. There was no deterioration and the oil pick up was clear apparently. I had all the belts replaced with a new oil pick up, crank pulley, bolts and everything that Ford suggests plus a full service and new front pads for 1500 inc VAT

There has got to be a retrofit out there, that makes these a dry belt, or a chain

Is it good practice to change the bolt on a belt change? And would it need to be pinned if just changing bolt or will it stay in place?

I have a question please , my oil filler pipe fills up with rain water when it rains heavy . Is that common ?
@eddyrunip
@eddyrunip 9 күн бұрын
I’d say it is common as mine did the same. It filled up at the neck of the oil filler tube where the oil filler cap sits. I drilled a couple of small holes in the neck to let the water escape. I then did some extensive sealing around the cowling and fabricated some rubber seals around the wiper arm holes and other gaps. The water just pours into the engine bay as the cowling and seals or lack of seals is very badly designed. The water pours directly onto the ecu and other electrical connectors as well as earthing points. I’ve sprayed acf50 on all the electrical connectors and earth points to protect them. You also have to make sure that water doesn’t settle around the injectors and corrode them as that can be a complete nightmare.

If thease vehicles are maintained correctly they will last. Unfortunately when they are out the Dealer network over 3 years old that's when it all goes wrong Most garages have 1 or 2 barrels of oil and not the correct grade one for all oil is not the way to go. Which is why as being Castrol Approved I have the correct spec for any vehicle I work on 👍🏼
