DAMN!!! Thanks for the time you put into this. P3's and the Super II to me had the best overall sound. Didnt hear a single Evans I liked.

Looks as awful as it sounds. Not much variation in sound. Expect the holes to crack the first time it gets crashed to hard. Throw that chunk back in the furnace. Fail.

Sounds good, definitely not an eye candy snare like my BB's with Brass hardware or the BB Hotrod 😋. And its not a Dunnett, N&C or a BB. Listening to this, I prefer my Rogers Dynasonic. But its all subjective. Kinda obvious this is for collectors at $2k since they only made 400. Its a DW/Craviotto. I think Stone Drum Co owns the original Slingerland molds ? Thanks for the upload

Thanks for the video and for presenting the cymbals and not your drumming skills (which I'm sure are great) I can hear a difference in all 3. stick definition and pitch gets higher, the heavier the weight is. That said, the lightest is most probably the most fun when rehearsing alone and the heaviest the best in a live situation. Its a pity that the perfect doesnt exist. 🙂

What artist or song made Slingerland Radio Kings popular? The 14x7 sounds better and by better I mean more tolerable. Im sure these would be great in the right context, just not sure what that is?

I'm newly returned to drumming. Can someone either direct me to, or make an accurate accounting of the terminology 'actual' drummers use to define snare sound? I have perfect pitch and I'm a recovered audiophile and a retired orchestral professional. I can clearly hear all the elements of the sound 'as I understand them': from the initial quality of the transient attack batter-side, its subsequent snare-side response, and the resultant interplay that constitute the sustain, decay and volume of the both the ring (overtones) and the tuned pitch of the head relative to the the initial articulation. It being obligated by physics that the toughest, longest lasting heads, those with greater resonant mass, by definition cause 'lower' pitch, longer sustain, and richer overtones when tuned to the same tension as less massive heads, it is a forgone conclusion that the pursuit of ever greater volume and have caused snare drums to sound less and less like snare drums (the Diplomat 5mm) and more and more like composites of drums and struck iron; which ironically you then seem to spend the rest of your life trying to engineer out, by means of time and tuning (which won't work) or additional purchases.

i knew it was an aluminum snare even before looking at the info. they have the most distinctive sound of all snares, especially when wide open and not muffled.
