Anybody know what this music is at the beginning it's pretty cool. Sounds like a cross between Rush and Yes

I suspect this track being played by the beeb in schools was responsible for turning many kids onto prog and psych rock. I remember hearing this waiting for the programme to start at school and honestly the music was better than the following programme. We all grew up to be ravers in the 90s and chilled down to anything proggy or psych😁

I remember the edits to this, but don't think it was until about 1982 that I heard the full version on BBC Schools of Bart - and sometimes it was used for intervals on the weekend on BBC1
@plane3405 ай бұрын
Yes, i also recall this. Even heard the 2 and 3 minute edits played in the same interval occasionally. Yes the testcard version on 'Pretty Girls' was editied down to 3:45

@paulsawtell39913 ай бұрын
Nothing wrong with re-creations. In those days vision would have been 4:3 and the sound in mono, not stereo. This is the full version as tx on the TTT Frog Went a'Courtin. The version used on schools was edited to, I recall, about 1'30 or thereabouts and had a natural ending as thus.

Although normally used on schools intervals, the Hair Medley did get a play early one Saturday morning as well once, over a menu caption of the day's programmes.

@@plane340 Hi,..Thanks for your reply mate,and so fast,.I really appreciate that. .. And yes ,I have read it is by them many times before ,only there is no trace of it,and it does not sound like them to me.I thought maybe you had the original lp ,-as you uploaded such a clean complete copy of the melody/suite.I'm so greatful to you for doing that,as all the other uploads are poor quality and incomplete. ..The info about the baden baden radio orch being the artist all began a long time ago when one person wrote that on a site saying they thought it may be them,without any proof,and then many other people read it and stated it everywhere as fact.. I look forward to more of your great uploads in the future if you are able to do any.. Thanks again Take care mate

@@ROBDV-7-9-6-5 Hi. Yes I'm not 100% sure but it's just what I've been told a few times. I joined the 'Test Card Circle" many years ago as I have a very keen interest in the BBC Schools Dot's era music with Bart being my No1 tune.... They have a wealth of knowledge about all the music played. Anyway, thanks for your kind comments. Cheers Paul

It's amazing how evocative music can be, and how it takes you back 40 odd years. A time of telly's on trolley's with the VCR locked away, 30 air guitar solos, an uncomfortable plastic mat that left indentations in your legs and most likely gave you piles as you sat for the 20 odd minutes. Heartbreakingly good.

One of my early memories around 1981, when I was 7 years old. I heard this on the TV during the summer holidays and absolutely loved it. Immediately after, I went to the park with my mum, dad and older brother, to play football on a bright and hot summers day. I remember taking a break and drinking cool orange squash. This music just took me back to that very day. Thank you so much!
