That is lovely, I reside in Botswana but I have travelled to the particular places in 2022 and was on a group tour of 30 people so we were mainly focused on activities at the dunes and by the beach and didn't really explore the towns and cities. We just drove past Windhoek and never got to explore the city and we were traveling by bus. So I am planning to drive to the same places again some time this year with a couple of my friends and just explore the places. Based on your experience is it something you would recommend?

@@atlang8022 we drove around Namibia and the only danger is driving at night, as in you could hit some animals and some roads from Windhoek to Swakopmund are pretty scary to drive on (they're in the Mountains high up without barriers). But apart from that i felt safe 😊

I went to swakopmund my wife and I and had similar experience. We went into a bar/restaurant and when the black girl saw us, she looked at us like we weren’t belong. This is a black country. My wife is a Namibian and I am a Jamaican who don’t stand for crap so I think about it and then I call her and the way you look at us I didn’t appreciate it, and she proceeded to apologize to us and said she was tired, but I knew it because she was not used to seen Black people in the bar/restaurant there were Probably like 99% who was in that bar was Caucasian.

Happy New Year i hope 2025 will be kind to you .i really enjoy your video on Windhoek very interesting and informative, sad that Black folks don't have the confidence in traveling in Africa the way they do in Europe, but I also believe that with so many Africans wanting to live in the West or living in the West contributes to the way Blacks sees Africa, we just have to keep showing videos such as yours to get the message out that you can live a very good standard in many parts of Africa, courage is needed, I am hoping to visit to see if its possible for me to retire there. i am looking forward to watching more of your post. thanks

Yeah there is too much negativity in the press on Africa,so most people assume the whole continent is not safe. Yeah visit first then see if you would like to retire there. The west coast is very nice and thank you very much for watching 🙂

@@towera Hi Thanks for your reply, Question did you find Swakopmund to be safe and decent place to live, just your thoughts, I am thinking between Botswana and Namibia both seems interesting right now Namibia holds an edge because of the beaches what say you

@@g.williams7740 i was only in Swakopmund for a day so i dont think i can say its a good place to live or not. Its definately a good place to visit. Here were my observations; its very beautiful and has beaches, really good supermarkets, could find anything i needed in a matter of seconds. The only thing im saying i dont know if its a good place to live or not its because they have some restaurants or Bars, where aparently the people who were pro segregation go to, i went into one of them and got so many wierd looks to the point where i had to leave, it could be different if you're white. Walvis bay was much better for me, and i truly enjoyed it. Windhoek was really good aswel the people were more open minded.

@@towera I am so sorry you had to experience that, its insane to think in 2025 in Africa this could be happening, i can honestly say that would not have sat well with me, I am of African Caribbean heritage, I guess in those days in that part of the world i would be considered a colored person, but no one gets to define me i define myself as a Caribbean man of African descent. I was doing some research on the area and there seems to be a well off Black community in Vineta which I was made to understand exists, having lived in the US i can't say these acts are not present, I am thankful you were honest with me. I will have to be more alert when visiting the area, I am kind of high on Namibia because of the beaches, but Botswana seems to have some advantage over Namibia in many areas, if i may ask in your travels where have you gone that you could see yourself living there, i am on the younger side of the retired folks and would like to find the right balance between cost of living and safety along with health care while see some of Africa since i am paid in USD i like the cost of rentals in the two countries as it would be foolish for me to buy, i also have an interest in the four corners and OKAVANGO DELTA, thanks much

Yeah unfortunately this still happens, and with Namibia they only got their independence in 1990, so I think maybe with a little more time things might change. I was just stopping by the cities (Windhoek, Walvis bay and Swakopmund) my main focus was rural areas like Tsumkwe, but for the cities if I had to pick, I would go with Windhoek, it had the best food, best people, a lot of things are open till late(not the case with Swakopmund), easy access to a lot of things etc, I’m not much of a beach person but if you’re then maybe Swakopmund and Walvis bay may be a better option for you

This country is very safe you have just to 1- put your back-bag on your chest in the crowded souks of Marr-akech 2- bargaining about every price , it's normal in souks, give always the half price leave and wait his reaction. 3- keep away from the fake guide. 4 - it's so easy to rent a car, renting a car doesn't cost too much from 30 dollars. Some prices : Hene hand tatoe cost from 5 to 8 dollars. Tips for musicians and sneaks charmer two dollars max. Short Camel ride or horse ride from 5 to 8 dollars. Just free you mind and joy it as you can.. a beautiful country..welcoming peoplec good luck
