So we want the bearing nut to only be finger tight and we’re not twisting it with our finger as tight as we possibly can. We’re just getting it snug?
@HandymanSam5 ай бұрын
It should first be torqued down to spec, then backed off, then tightened back with fingers until snug. Torquing down “sets” the bearing, then snugging down keeps it in place in addition to the retaining nut and cotter pin. Watch again at 5:10 mark.

Yes. Even if you have brand new spark plugs and wires, if your crankshaft sensor is bad, it will run rough.

Thank you so much. My truck had been sitting for about 6 months and I decided to get it back up and going. I noticed some corrosion on my positive terminal and sure enough it doesn’t crank and I have to jump it. I go to the store and need a jump but this time I’m idling at +2000 and I’m certain this is the problem. Thank you!

Handy man Sam, yesterday I went to start my plow pickup. Battery very weak, corrosion on both terminals. I jump started it and plowed with the idle at close to 2000 rpm. Hard on linkage and transmission. Watched your video and decided the battery needed cleaned up anyway. Wow! Running great again with idle back at 800 rpm. Must be a low battery charge sensor stepping up the idle when the battery is too corroded to take a charge. Thanks much for the video. ME

just did this on my 1997 Saturn SL2 and may i say that bottom clip on the filter can be a pain in the ass if you don't have a good visual once i jacked up the car it took about 10 seconds to unclip. Just for someone like me who thinks they can get away with it without jacking the car up and wasting an hour trying not to break a line or something GREAT VIDEO

Glad to help! Yeah I would start basic with inspection of stuff like plugs and wires. Definitely get a quality crankshaft position sensor though if that is the problem.

Did yours run rough after you installed them? I did mine and now it runs rough like somethings up with the valves...
@HandymanSam Жыл бұрын
I did notice halfway through the job that one of the valves was a bit burnt. I didn’t have the ability to remove the head and replace (nor did I want to), but the new seals helped reduce oil consumption at least a little.

No difference in running rougher though.

I just went to a few stores - 2 automotive and 2 home improvement stores hoping to find a socket that size, shape and hole in it but found nothing that was exactly the same. So, where can I finally socket that allow me to loosen it with a screwdriver?
@HandymanSam Жыл бұрын
Here’s where I got the one I use: a.co/d/b5eVKtb It doesn’t have a hole for a screwdriver, but it’s a shallow, low profile socket that works with my regular ratchet just fine.
