Regarding divorce mediation and the issue of which school district the children should attend, I strongly believe that the mediator needs to help the parties understand that what they want may be different from what they need. It's important to bring common sense into the mediation session, especially when children are involved. Divorce is a painful process that affects the whole family, especially the kids. We need to be empathetic and understand their feelings while also considering what is best for them. However, if there are strong reasons why the children cannot continue attending their original school or the school closest to the parent with primary residence (PPR), those reasons need to be taken into account. The children need to maintain stability in their lives, including their school environment, friends, and classmates. Ultimately, the decisions should be made by the parties involved, but we have to help them see the light through a dark tunnel…

You cannot mediate cases with a temporary restraining order in New Jersey, and the only mediation with a final restraining order is court ordered and within the court, which is purely a caucus model.
