Dose the 360 test cover any markers for mitochondria? I have positive AMA FOR 6 years!! And dna damage.
@thednacompany4669Күн бұрын
from Dr. Varden: The DNA360 test provides valuable insights into genes that influence diet, lifestyle, stress management, detoxification pathways and more, which can help you tailor choices that support liver health and potentially alleviate symptoms related to Anti-Mitochondrial Antibodies (AMA). Some of the genes covered, such as those influencing mitochondrial detoxification and function (e.g., SOD2 & GPX) and energy metabolism (e.g., UCP1), can indirectly support mitochondrial health by optimizing cellular processes and reducing oxidative stress. By understanding your unique detoxification and antioxidant capacity, you can make targeted dietary and lifestyle changes to reduce liver stress, optimize immune function, and manage mitochondrial health, even if AMA is present.

From Dr. Varden: High eosinophil percentage and absolute count in bloodwork often suggest an immune response to allergies, parasitic infections, or autoimmune conditions. I would suggest discussing your results thoroughly with the doctor who requested the labs and/or a licensed health professional that knows your medical history and is caring for you.

Where I have the GG version for FOX3 my other genetic markers seem to contract such in terms of inflammation, 5G 9p21, MTHFR, SOD2, GPX...and other suboptimal markers. In my estimation the single gene FOX3 for longivity has not a lot of bearing as formerly promoted.

What does BDNF rs6265 mean?
@thednacompany46698 күн бұрын
From Dr. Varden: Rs6265 is a gene variation, a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in the BDNF gene that codes for brain-derived neurotrophic factor. In terms of epigenetics, the BDNF rs6265 Met allele is often linked to differences in how the brain responds to environmental factors like stress, exercise, or neurotherapies (e.g., light and sound therapy). This variation may help explain why some individuals experience more challenges with mental health or cognitive resilience.

I did my DNA test and added the non-methylated forms of B12 and B9 recommended for me but I still take a multi B supplement (which contains methylated versions as well). How do I know if the other B vitamins in that supplement are right for me and if the methylated B9 and 12 are harming anything by still taking?
@thednacompany466921 күн бұрын
** Please Note that our Clinician responses are for Educational Purposes , and you should always Discuss with your Health Care Provider** From Bryce Wylde: Based on the provided insights, let’s address your situation: Understanding Non-Methylated vs. Methylated Forms: If your DNA test indicated a need for non-methylated forms of B12 (like Adenosylcobalamin) and B9 (such as Folinic acid), this means that your body might not efficiently process methylated forms like methylcobalamin and 5-MTHF. However, since you are also taking a multi-B supplement containing methylated versions, there are a few considerations to keep in mind: Genetic Variants and Tolerance: For individuals with specific genetic variations (like MTHFR variations), using methylated forms can sometimes be problematic. They might experience symptoms like anxiety, irritability, or overstimulation because their bodies can become overwhelmed with the methyl groups. To assess if the methylated forms are causing issues, pay attention to any changes in mood, energy levels, or other symptoms that coincide with taking the multi-B supplement. Checking for Overlap: Look at the quantities of methylated B12 and B9 in your multi-B supplement. If they are at relatively low doses and you aren't experiencing negative symptoms, your body might tolerate the small amounts. However, if they are in high doses, it may be wise to switch to a multi-B without these methylated forms to avoid overloading your methylation pathways. Evaluating B Vitamin Needs: Beyond B9 and B12, the other B vitamins (like B6, riboflavin, niacin, etc.) play different roles in metabolism and energy production. They should be considered also and can be assessed based on an intracellular micronutrient status test ie. www.spectracell.com/blog/posts/serum-vs-intracellular This type of blood work and functional testing can help understand how your body is processing the B vitamins. Consider checking your levels of homocysteine, methylmalonic acid (MMA), and other markers related to B12 and B9 metabolism. Elevated homocysteine, for example, might indicate that your body isn't effectively utilizing the forms you’re taking, while high MMA could suggest a need for a different form of B12. Personalization Based on Symptoms: Ultimately, the best indicator is DNA but also consider how you feel. If adding the non-methylated forms improved your symptoms and adding the multi-B supplement with methylated forms did not introduce new symptoms, you might be tolerating it well. However, if you feel worse or notice any new symptoms, it could be a sign that the methylated forms are overloading your system.

I'd be interested to hearing how a carnivore diet fits in with genomics, especially when so many genetic profiles do not seem to do well on a high saturated fats and indicated doing best on PUFAS and MUFAS with complex carbs? Furthermore, many genomic profiles show the need for high folic acid and support with estrogen clearance which is not really supported on a carnivore diet? I know from my side I have worked with several clients who suffered the negative consequences of a carnivore diet with hormonal imbalances
@thednacompany4669Ай бұрын
From Bryce Wylde: Great question! The carnivore diet, like most "diets" that are popular and trendy may not be a suitable approach for everyone let alone the majority. Nutritional considerations that become lifestyle - not fleeting 'diets' - need to be personalized based on an individual’s genetic profile. Many genetic profiles, as you've noted, do not thrive on high levels of saturated fat, especially in individuals with polymorphisms in genes like APOE or FTO, both of which affect lipid metabolism. These individuals may be predisposed to elevated cholesterol or triglycerides on such a diet. On the other hand, some individuals metabolize fats more efficiently and experience positive outcomes on a carnivore diet, but it's essential to evaluate these variations. Regarding folic acid and estrogen clearance, certain gene variants (like those with select MTHFR and COMT variants) do require careful consideration of folate status and estrogen metabolism. These nutrients are often sourced from plant-based foods, and thus, a strictly carnivore diet may lack the diversity needed to support optimal methylation and hormone detoxification. Clients with these genetic variants may benefit from strategic supplementation or modifying the carnivore diet to include nutrient dense animal organs, which provide some of these key nutrients, or by incorporating targeted plant based foods without compromising their overall dietary goals. A carnivore diet can influence hormonal pathways by altering cholesterol metabolism as you illude to, which serves as the backbone for hormone synthesis. In cases where people experience imbalances, adjusting fat intake, particularly the types of fats consumed (like favouring omega-3s and monounsaturated fats), or incorporating specific supplements to support hormonal balance can help mitigate these effects. Ultimately, genomics via DNA360 testing can offer valuable insights into whether an individual might thrive or struggle on a carnivore diet, and the diet should always be adapted based on individual genetic markers, lab results, and clinical outcomes

@isthatmine2 ай бұрын
It sounds like you need some electrolytes, get a simple non flavoured. You could also try adding some salt to your meals and a little to your water. Moving away from a standard diet to carnivore,the amount salt you are ingesting is reduced to almost 0. This will affect the energy levels a lot. If you get diarrhoea try reducing you fat intake a little at a time. It will take some time to get it right, but once your body learns to burn fat for energy instead or carbs, it will be much easier to manage. Try cutting out all the sugars. It will speed up the transition time.
@thednacompany466922 күн бұрын
From Dr. Varden: The symptoms you experienced on the carnivore diet, such as chronic diarrhea and lack of energy, are not uncommon. This type of diet, which consists almost entirely of animal-based foods, can lead to a number of metabolic and digestive shifts that might be responsible for your experience. Let's look at some possible reasons for what happened and how you might address them. Potential Reasons for Your Symptoms Lack of Fiber: The carnivore diet eliminates plant-based foods, which are primary sources of dietary fiber. Fiber is essential for gut health, as it helps regulate bowel movements and supports the gut microbiome. Without fiber, it's common to experience diarrhea, as the gut may struggle to manage food transit time and water balance. Electrolyte Imbalance: Switching to a low-carb diet, like the carnivore diet, can lead to a rapid loss of electrolytes (sodium, potassium, magnesium, and calcium) because insulin levels drop and the body excretes more water. This can lead to symptoms like fatigue, weakness, and even digestive disturbances like diarrhea. Digestive Adaptation: It can take time for your digestive system to adapt to the high intake of fats and proteins from animal sources, especially if your diet was previously high in carbohydrates and plant-based foods. During this adaptation period, it's common to experience loose stools and energy fluctuations. Absence of Key Nutrients: Some people may have difficulty converting nutrients from animal foods into energy due to their unique genetic makeup. For instance, if you have variations in genes related to fat metabolism or energy production (such as MTHFR, CPT1A, or UCP1), it might explain why you felt lethargic. Recommendations for Improvement Increase Electrolytes: Consider supplementing with electrolytes (sodium, potassium, and magnesium) to help restore balance in your body. You can do this by drinking bone broth, adding salt to your meals, and using a high-quality electrolyte supplement. Transition Slowly: If you're planning to continue with a low-carb approach, consider transitioning more slowly by incorporating some low-carb vegetables to help your gut adapt. This gradual shift can help reduce diarrhea and improve your energy levels by stabilizing your electrolyte levels and supporting your gut health. Add More Nutrient-Dense Foods: Include organ meats, which are rich in essential vitamins and minerals like B vitamins, zinc, and iron, to ensure you're getting all the nutrients you need for energy production and metabolic health. Digestive Support: Support your digestion with digestive enzymes or betaine hydrochloride if you find it hard to digest high amounts of protein and fat. This could help your body break down these foods more efficiently and reduce digestive discomfort. Consider a Modified Approach: You might want to consider a modified carnivore diet like the "ketovore" approach, which combines the benefits of the carnivore diet with small amounts of low-carb vegetables, such as leafy greens and non-starchy vegetables. This can provide fiber for gut health without spiking blood sugar levels. Hydration and Proper Fat Intake: Make sure you are drinking enough water, especially when eating high-protein meals, to help with digestion and to maintain hydration levels. Also, focus on the right balance of fats (like omega-3s from fish and monounsaturated fats from animal sources) to promote sustained energy. Please remember that I am not your doctor and have no knowledge of your history, genes, etc. This is educational information. Make sure to discuss this with your healthcare practitioner.
