Hey Leon, I would love to see your techniques on how you mix your Tamiya paints (or some formula) and perhaps weathering some other types of cars. Like Boxcars and Tank cars.
@trainsforbrains18 күн бұрын
@marcusc3463 thanks for the interest! I may do some other videos of weathering other cars. I do have videos of doing locomotives. As for mixing colours of paint, I feel like I don't have a good eye for colours, but I will take a colour that seems close to what I want, and will darken or lighten it. Perhaps I can show what I do, but it is very trial and error.

The main thing is to enjoy the hobby. If you make a few bucks in the process, all the better. Your layout looks great. Don’t get hung up on what other people say about dates and mixing equipment together that wouldn’t have happened in real life. It’s your world. Do what makes you happy with it.

@davestrains6816 Thanks for watching Dave. I think it's the last 2 trains that look Jittery..or stuttering, its faint, but I see it. It's when I switched to 4 K. I am going to experiment some.
@FrogandFlangeVideo3 ай бұрын
Hi Leon. I see the jittery movement you spoke about in the train at the 18 minute mark. From my own experience (using my previous camera) I did observe this effect when filming at 30 pfs, usually when filming relatively close up (like today for example) and in my case worse when shooting more at right angles to the train. It isn't super obvious, but it is there. James.
@trainsforbrains3 ай бұрын
@FrogandFlangeVideo ya. It seemed to present itself after I switched to 4k. Not sure why, I'm guessing I just need a slower shutter speed? I need to read up a bit about it.

I had to switch the axle out from traction to get mine to move from a stop. As supplied it could not run at slow speed. A quick swap out with the included "contact" wheels and it ran really well. Too bad about the noise on yours, glad its sorted. I like Rapido and what they offer, and I appreciate their prompt customer service. Unfortunately, in my limited experience with them I've found their assistance is needed just a little too often.

Great work! Looks like there might be room for a speaker on the "back deck" just under the rear of the decoder. That's where I put an 8 x 12 mm speaker in my Atlas GP-9s... sugar cube half-deep from Streamline Backshop. I took off the original Atlas Gold speaker, which was clipped onto the rear of the ESU decoder. It sounded too tinny.
@trainsforbrains9 ай бұрын
Thanks! This was done with an older V4 decoder, I think the new Kato specific V5's are shorter freeing up more space behind the decoder for a bigger speaker box. I have a few more to do, and will be using the V5 boards.

I don't know. I don't have any BLI engines, but it should be do able. I have read the hard part is that BLI don't follow NMRA wire colours so you have to figure out which wires go where.
