"the only one thats not a vtwin".......that made me giggle especially when you're the one riding the bmw..... which definitely isn't a vtwin

I enjoyed that John and your company there. I've had the pleasure of all them roads a number of times. There's no being tired of the Cambrians - it's simply gnarly, wild and beautiful and as you say a great escape. Fantastic footage. All the best. Mark

When I watch these big bike big group rides I’m so glad I don’t do that. It looked so much better later on when it was just the three of you.
@BigJohnMoto4 ай бұрын
Normally I prefer a group no larger than 4; however we all had lockdown fever and needed a good ride, hence the larger group. All experienced motorcyclists whom I have known for 20 yrs+ PS: YES I know BMW GS is not a V Twin..slip of the tongue to check if you're paying attention 😁
@davidmatthews30934 ай бұрын
Since when has BMW made V twins?

I genuinely would have loved to watch this but the camera shake was just too much - Started feeling a bit ill! Sorry. Where do you have that camera?
@BigJohnMoto5 ай бұрын
Try watching from 6m.30, the camera is mounted on crash bar and is solid. Previously I had it mounted on my helmet and fast movement of the head (looking Lor R) will cause "shake";

Try it the proper way round, from Tregaron to Abergwesyn,.... at night, at speed, in a car. Elan Valley from Rhyader to Cwmystwyth past Elan village and the dams/lakes road or from Rhyader following the B-road over the old mountain route is OK. Another one to try would be Hafren forest, from Llanidloes past Old Hall and Geufron then looping back towards Llanidloes past the Clywedog Reservoir and dam. And yet another would be Ponterwyd to Talybont past Nant-y-Moch Reservoir which sees you riding across the dam. Have fun!
@BigJohnMoto7 ай бұрын
Thanks for your input. I have tried Tregaron to Abergwesyn but road was closed that time. I've done the mountain road from Rhyader many times, but the Nant-Y-Moch Reservoir is new to me and your route looks just my sort of ride..Cheers

Shit - I have ridden the ELan Valley and been to the chip shop in Rhayader many times, and never knew I was so close to these great roads. Thanks for sharing - I'll give your route a try next time.

Thanks for watching..this one really is worth a ride, but try and pick a sunny day to enjoy it. It never gets a lot of traffic, which is just as well as the road is single track. We did it in May out of holiday season.

No motorcycles - utter discrimination watching this fab video and reminds me some welsh roads. I’ve ditched my hyper hp bike and now got a vstrom650 so light and agile as I’ve found when following big bikes on this sort of road. Hp not always the best

Nice one guys. Great scenery. Question! Why didnt the others ride the Forrest road?? It didnt appear to be over challenging?
@BigJohnMoto Жыл бұрын
Thanks, glad you enjoyed. 5 of the group didn't want to get their bikes dirty so stuck to the tarmac. You're right it wasn't too challenging in the dry, but I can imagine its very slippery if its wet and the top layer is muddy

A plus one for this suggestion! I spent a few days last summer based at the ‘Fat Lamb Pub’ near Kirkby Stephen (great food and welcome for bikers as owners are classic car enthusiasts) and I was blown away by the biking roads across the North Pennines, motorcycling heaven 👍

How short sighted can you be not to allow motorcyclists to spend money at your business 🤔 🤣 That is definitely discrimination. What would happen if one of you had a disability ???

Not sure exactly where it was, but at North end of the Yorks Dales before Barnard Castle. Apparently the venue had been set up especially for some non-motorised cycling event :)

It's the cycle hire place at Grinton just outside of Reeth. Three of us on motorcycles were served no problem earlier this year. There is a sign saying no motorcycles, maybe they mean for hire.

How’s the bike ???? Can you give your reviews about this bike ! I am planning to buy it for my daily rides ! Your reviews about this bike would help me to decide better , I am going for a ABS brake system version of this bike
@BigJohnMoto4 жыл бұрын
The RE Bullet was perfect for this tour which included a mix of highway cruising, some nice twisty roads, some very bad surface roads and some off road tracks in sand and gravel. Its a big single and has lots of torque at low revs; which can be used by short shifting the gears..there is no point in revving this bike hard as there is no top end. Even in a high gear at low revs it pulls well. The version I rode had no ABS and no "frills" of any sort, but did have an electric start (with kick start back up). Its a tough well built bike that is easy to work on and very reliable. It coped well with everything we threw at it..and it sounds like a motorbike should :)

Hey Just a simple guestion. If I am 198 cm tall 6,6 and 110kg will I be too big for the RE classic 500 ? How tall are you ?
@BigJohnMoto4 жыл бұрын
Hi..its a good question. I'm 6'4, 193 cm and 93kg. The RE Bullet 500 is a relatively small bike compared with my BMW GS. For me it was just about OK size wise for this trip, but I wouldn't be buying one as my every day bike. You're even bigger than me and therefore I think you might just find it too small. The only way to tell for sure would be to sit on one.
