Honestly I have not calculated this. I usually ride it 1/2 to 1 mile, then when the battery gets low I recharge. I have owned it for a couple of years now and have traveled over 200 miles total. It still has plenty of battery life. I would estimate it goes at least 20 miles before needing a recharge.

LOLz, actually it would stop; But with those all-terrain wheels and traveling about 10 mph, I can run off thing if it hit something that would actually stop it. You're right though - at higher speeds definitely wear protective gear.
