Late to the party, but if anyone is wondering what the aliver thing with the grid of lights is, it's a Yamaha Tenori-on, the original WH version to be precise. It's a sequencer with a built in sound module plus MIDI, on one side the grid of lights are also buttons for entering in steps to the sequencer. A later cheaper model with orange lights, and only on kne side was also released.

2024 here! This song was released on right around my HS graduation in 1978. I will always remember this song as it played full blast on my way to work and although the lyrics don't exactly match the feeling, to me it was and will be a song of FREEDOM.
