Ran Annim Tommy! Our Peace Corps teaching was from 1974-76. You were definitely one of our most memorable students. Karen and I have been living in Honolulu since 1978. We're still in touch with some of our Elin family. Have you seen my "50Fotos Chuuk" posting - kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJqUeKieZr-AgZo. I shot those photos during a trip to Chuuk in 2006. You're in it at 2:12! Aloha, Greg

Here's the best KZbin playlist for Music of the South Pacific, recordings by David Fanshawe. I met with Fanshawe in the early 1980s during one of his recording trips to the islands. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpatnaKnZcxprNk

My mom is from Chuuk and my dad was able to meet her during his time in the military as well back in the 1990s. It's so cool you have videos on Chuuk, I don't meet a lot of people who know have even heard the name. I wish I knew the beautiful language, though I spent a year there as a kid back in 2006ish. Cool videos, best thing is probably their music! To this day I have 70+ cousins living in Hawaii, Chuuk, and across the U.S.

This brings back fond memories. In 1964 my ship USS Brister DER 327 visited Moen Island on multiple occasions. We were based in Guam and our role was to patrol the Trust Territories of the Pacific which included the Marianas and Caroline Island groups.
