Your voice is beautiful, but I cannot make out the words being sung. What is the point of listening if I cannot understand any of the lyrics? If you want to improve your performance, I would focus on that. Everything else seems golden.

I wonder how many songs that began life as a shanty have been sung like an aria from an opera.

Fear no more the heat o’ the sun, Nor the furious winter’s rages; Thou thy worldly task hast done, Home art gone, and ta’en thy wages: Golden lads and girls all must, As chimney-sweepers, come to dust. Fear no more the frown o’ the great; Thou art past the tyrant’s stroke; Care no more to clothe and eat; To thee the reed is as the oak: The scepter, learning, physic, must all follow this, and come to dust. Fear no more the lightning flash, Nor the all-dreaded thunder stone; Fear not slander, censure rash; Thou hast finished joy and moan: all lovers young, all lovers must Consign to thee, and come to dust. No exorciser harm thee! Nor no witchcraft charm thee! Ghost unlaid forbear thee! Nothing ill come near thee! Quiet consummation have; And renowned be thy grave!

I was born in Durham, NC in 1948 of southern ancestry but I grew up in Philadelphia ....and I don't know why this "song" so haunts me and compels me to play it ...but I refer to it as "soul" ancestry from a previous life .....sorry if I offended anyone ...but this "song" makes me :) on the "inside"!

Oh man! This is how it should be sung. I have just looked up about 15 versions of this song, by a lot of well-known voices - but this was my favourite. Only 8 likes? and a dislike! I just don't understand people.

Ms. Macrae, I was searching for a vast array of performances of this song, it was my father's favorite, and I found yours. Strange coincidence - I was recently in England, studying history at Oxford, and on my last night in London, I stood outside this church. Hm. You did a beautiful rendition of this song. Thank you so very much. You and your voice are lovely. Doug Immel, USA.
