I like this review. It is straightforward and to the point. If you're model has the 14c 28N steel, you should be able to keep it sharp indefinitely with the honing rod. 14c 28N has good toughness and wear resistance. In fact, this steel is as capable as most people will ever need.

What the neck happened to the tip of that knife? Its rounded instead of factory pointed? Has it been improperly sharpened?

If you can find them a five pound coffee grounds can of a paint can work well, I had a Scout Troop build some about 15 years back. Can openers and tin snips were used.

People confuse Buck's 420 HC with the cheaper, lower quality 420 j steel. 420 j steel will not hold an edge like 420 HC, and is usually found in inexpensive knives, although Buck knives are not expensive compared to most other brands. 120 years in business. Do you think they put low quality products on the market and still continue to grow as a company? I think not. Thanks for the video. Great topic.

I truly don't understand the homage that people pay to the 110. Not only is it not the best knife ever made, it's not even the best knife I own.

Fantastic Review! Thank you for taking the time. I rarely post…Well now I am in a dilemma. I normally prefer a knife with a clip for EDC in the pocket and I have many knives, some much more expensive SOGs with the fancy steel and handles, etc. but the funny thing is a couple years ago I bought a (Cheap) Buck 311 Drop-point Kingsman with 420 J2 steel 2 3/4 inch - I think it may be an exclusive design for Canadian Tire?? (Normally $22 CDN on sale now for $11.99). Maybe not the hardest steel in the World but they must have done something right with the hardening because I love it for everyday use and it is easy to sharpen quickly which I don’t mind. It has displaced many other knives that sit in my safe. Lately I have been fixated on the 110 classic Buck because of the ebony, brass and robust build. What held me back is the size with no clip. I’ve been trying to decide between the 3 diff sizes (110, 112 or the half-sized 055). This review and reading the comments here has turned it up a notch LOL. I can’t take it any more so I think I’ll start with the 110, but deep down I know I will likely end up with all three eventually. I guess I can wear the 110 or 112 in the sheath on a belt. I just love the look of ebony and brass together in such a quality build. They currently sell for $99.99 CDN at Bass Pro but a friend got one on sale last year at Peavey Mart for $49. I was waiting for a sale after hearing that but may have to bite the bullet at $99.99 (current exchange is about 1.38 so $73 US without Tax of 11%). Things have changed in 4 years LOL.

Rarely is this the cause. It’s either the bar rails need dressed, or the rakers(depth gauges) are not at the correct height to the corresponding cutters. Or both.

Cutting curves is also a sign of a bent bar. So try sharpening first if that doesn’t help replacing the bar will.

Wouldn't sharpening both side fix it? Or is it more because the teeth are a bigger size compared to the other?
@BernardoSantoseCastro2 ай бұрын
If One SIDE is more sharpe Will cut Faster than the other SIDE. Is more about how sharpe they are than the size of the thee . Also uneven bar rails
@klobber172 ай бұрын
@@BernardoSantoseCastro yeah then you have to match it to the sharpness of the other side or it would just pull in the other direction, so do both sides.

Thought it meant that they sold you the wrong saw. If you're right handed you need a chainsaw made for right hand use. Same fir left handed.
@billtmarchi43202 ай бұрын
That's like how I file the back of each tooth , so when I draw the saw back towards me, it will cut wood as I draw it back. So I cut in both directions ,pushing the saw in and back.

What's up, bro. Thanks for this video. I've had this knife for at least 15 years. My Dad also has it. Years ago he lost his knife and wanted a new one but he was being picky, especially about one hand opening a knife. I bought 4 knives and let him pick one for Christmas. He chose the Buck Spitfire. I haven't carried this knife a lot but I have used it. It is amazingly sleek and solid. An excellent representation of Buck's quality. Mine is green, which they don't even make anymore.
