This song always reminds me of my sister after her passing in 1998. She was the shooting star in our family. She is very much missed still today.

I was listening to "Drops of Jupiter," earlier on the radio as my husband and I drove from a doctor's appointment. I asked hubby if he knew what it meant and he answered "no." I speculated that the song was about drugs but said I'd be sure to google it when I got home. After I googled the lyrics and then listened to the song, I was led to this link. What a touching story behind such a beautiful tune!! I really love creatives, and just because I am one, but artists have t be some of the most interesting people in the world. Thank you for this upload.

I recently lost my second French Bulldog at the age of 5 quite tragically. My 'Soul Dog'. Unfortunately, my parents weren't to me what Pat's beloved Mom was to him...My animals were my refuge and source of unconditional love whether I deserved it or not. When Archer died, I made a Playlist of songs that reminded me of him with this song being my Number One! I've been blessed to find a new Pup in Oregon by sheer chance a few months later. His name? Jupiter! 'Trillium Meadows Drops of Jupiter'. This song and the story behind it will live in my heart forever (actually think I want to die with this song playing)...And, I work in hospice and couldn't agree more...our loved ones ARE still here just in a "different" way!!! ❤️‍🩹

"When I see nothing annihilated (in the works of our creator) and not a drop of water wasted, I cannot suspect the annihilation of souls, or believe that he will suffer the waste of millions of minds ready made that now exist, and put himself to the continual trouble of making new ones. Thus, finding myself to exist in the world, I believe I shall, in some shape or other, always exist; and, with all the inconveniences human life is liable to, I shall not object to a new edition of mine, hoping, however, that the errata of the last may be corrected." -Benjamin Franklin I hope something awaits us upon our departure.

He made a song that will be playing long after he goes to be with his mother in heaven! I'm pretty sure she did that intentionally by being in that dream. Good job mom, good job. Even after going away, she never really left his side. 😲 Wow. That's pretty awesome ❤️

I always thought it was about his girlfriend taking a break and going off shagging other guys and then comes crawling back and this is his bitter subliminal ballad to her!! Thats exactly whats the lyrics are saying! !!!!!!!!!!!

I lost my mother 6 months ago. I am a woman in my 40’s yet I still yearn, pine for my mother 💔. “I would also like to thank my mom.” I just can’t stop crying nor can I stop listening to this. Thank you Pat Monahan ❤

I'm also a woman in my 40s & just went through the 4th anniversary of my mom passing away. I miss my mom every single day, I'm not sure that yearning ever really goes away. I've been sitting here crying ever since finding this clip. By the comments section, it seems it's touched a lot of us for the same reason. ❤

We need to give artists (poets,writers and musicians) the liberty to l i e about their personal lives and WHO IS WHO on their inspiration/m u s e list.You can't take a n y t h i n g personal about what they say....if you expect p e r s o n a l stuff on people,check their criminal records,their bank accounts and/or subpoena them (with a lie detector n o t controlled by US intelligence agencies..)to come to court...

When I first heard this song I was spell bound. I am a singer and a drummer. I got recording of it and one sunday I sat down and listened to it over and over writing down the lyrics. I was married at the time and my exes daughter from then on referred to it as "my song". I am extremely close with my mom. To hear that this song was his catharsis and the beginning of his healing only make the song that much more poignant. Raises my glass. To everyone's mom everywhere. Cheers. And to you Pat. My deepest sympathies for your loss.
