at 2:31, there's a small black stump in the upper right. is that an antler in front of it? but i thought he busted from those two black trees center-frame, at 2:31. it all happened so damn fast.

Yes. It's neat to be able to distinguish the larger bucks from last year, even this early.

nope. and it was nice to see the boaters staying out of their way, for the most part. right when i started filming, they had just had to do another pass because a boat was in the way. but after that, they were good.

I've heard some 'deer experts' claim that deer won't use the same bed twice. These deer came in, and that first one beds in the exact bed that a deer made the day before. I've also watched, from my blind, the deer bed, then get up and stretch after an hour or so, then bed back down where they just were. So that one is definitely a myth.

The deer love bedding on this knoll. They can see/hear/smell danger, and quickly exit whichever opposite direction they want. This little one is a loner, and does it's own thing. But the does usually wander in around 8am-9am and bed for 3 hours, then depart.

thanks. he's pretty stealthy, but i've caught him a couple times now. but, i've been in here for 12 years, and seen the cougar tracks from my very first year in there. just finally started to catch sightings on cam this year.

thanks. that one cam does give off a real faint red glow, it does seem to startle some of them. but these bucks are mostly new in here too. bucks from everywhere come down to here during the rut, and then they are gone again. so anything odd, likely startles some that aren't used to the area. i've been hammered by covid for the last 2 weeks. finally decided i needed to get out and get some fresh air. luckily, the whitetail seem to be a bit late this year, with the rut. doesn't seem like i missed any opportunities.

Also, in that thumbnail scene, this cam used to always be mounted on that poplar, up higher, and facing the opposite direction. I think moving it has made a difference too.

Ya. Have put in alot of work, to locate it and then all the scouting. And way too many were in the upper 30C. Still won't be easy to find one of those big guys though.

This fawn, for some reason, has left it's mom, and prefers solitude, it seems. The last clip, is the md group that are in here, but now the one's fawn is away from them. It's not lost or anything, it's still in the same area as them, but doesn't hang with them. I've got it on several cams by itself. And, last week, i was in there checking cams. As i was standing at the one cam, facing the tree, i heard a thump-thump behind me. There's a slope that goes up to another ledge above. I turned, as i assumed a buck might have been surprised by my noise, checking the cam. But the thump-thumps were continuing. What i saw, was this fawn, bounding down the slope, straight toward me. It bounced over my gear on the ground and the downed tree right beside me. I could have reached out and slapped it as it streaked by. I said 'hey', as it was by me, and it came to a complete stop, looked at me, and then just walked calmly away. I had assumed the coyotes were likely chasing it, but none appeared.

Thanks. The worst part, is that i had planned to be up there that morning, sitting and watching this exact spot. But i was still awake at 1am, and my alarm was set for 3am. There was no way i could get up. And sure enough, these two walked by that morning.
