I grew up very near Whiteman Air Park and my friends and I would often sneak onto the field and play around this aircraft, alongside a couple of B-25's and an Beech twin. So sad to see how it was so carelessly treated. But N9909F lives again - she was immaculately restored by AvSpecs in New Zealand and lives again as PZ 474. There are many videos on KZbin - look them up!

This is a GAS Turbine engine.. NOT A STEAM Turbine ! when you fly in a turbo-prop airplane..that is a Gas Turbine engine.
@qwertyuiopasdfghjkl25564 жыл бұрын
Looks like somekind of a tesla turbine to me you can just inject this fuel in your regular gasoline car besides gas for more power, better performance at same fuel consumption ive tried it myself
@qwertyuiopasdfghjkl25564 жыл бұрын
You can also use silver as catalist, btw you dont need a catalist once the mixture is in your cilinder it will heat to a temperature at which the h2o2 decomposes into oxygen and water and methanol

Wakkanai had an AFB???? Wow.. Very interesting, I was navy a/c in 88 and we took an AF OSI guy and another AF (NCIS equivalent) up to Wakkanai, and they wouldn't even let the other AF guy leave the airport, only the OSI was allowed to go do his thing at the Wakkanai facility (I guess listening post? No AFB then)

Glad you had a good time!. I visited the ships in Sept. 1992, after Dave Kope had moved them south. The RAN was sold to a UK party, she still may be sailing. I would not like to maintain those Mercedes engines, Dave Kope had found out how expensive parts were. His other two ships spent much time at the Ring Andersen yard in Svendborg. It looks like from GoogleEarth that one is still there.

In the electric car age, with the electric engine as your primary mover, this type of engine would be ideal for charging your battery pack, either while in motion or stopped. It would most certainly extend the distance an electric car could travel before the charge runs out, and startup time wouldn't be a concern as it would only be being used to top up the battery pack.

Cool Design, But:. . . No Need to Mix the Hydrogen Peroxide with Methanol to make it Flammable when poured over (or pumped through) a Catalyst (in his case Manganese Dioxide) which just complicates things making a Flammable Steam (actually just vaporizing the Methanol and making it more Flammable with the Oxygen released from the H2O2, while also dousing the fire with the water vapor {Steam} being released at the same time). . . There was a guy 25-30 years ago that built a Steam Powered Helicopter using 80% Hydrogen Peroxide (Industrial/Scientific Grade) and pumping it through a chamber filled with Platinum Pellets (Basically just a Catalytic Converter off an old car) which instantly Flashed the H2O2 into Steam (without the Flammable Methanol mixed in) and plumbed it so the Steam ran up through the main shaft of the Rotor and out the Rotor Tips which were fitted with Jet Nozzles, making The ROTOR ITSELF The Engine. . . Speed was Regulated by Regulating how much H2O2 was pumped through the Converter. . . No Flame, No Glow Plugs, No Fuel Mixing, No Time-Delay Building Steam, No Fuss. . . Only Problem Is, you have to be Licensed to Buy 80% Hydrogen Peroxide and The Vast Majority of us Aren't. . . . An added benefit to doing it that way is the Exhaust is Nothing More Than Steam or Water Vapor and Oxygen. . . No Unburned Methanol or other Chemicals going out the Exhaust.

Thanks. 👍 Looking into this technology for an aquatic project I'm thinking about. H2O2 + Methanol + Catalyst solves a lot problems.

That's literally one of the craziest stories I've ever heard and I've been studying stuff like this for almost 15 years that helicopter sounds like some s*** that even Nikola Tesla would be proud of period period you know he made a flying machine too... pretty freaking crazy stuff air driven.

You can research it more on your own by simply looking for "H2O2 Steam powered helicopter" or similar searches.

Not very efficient running a car on "rocket fuel". Gasoline combusting with air release a lot more energy per kg of fuel and you do not have to carry around the air.
