April, 2007. Right before the housing bubble burst and the economy went into the toilet.

@@zacharycalgher3978 Yep. Right around when this video was filmed (early April, 2007), mortgage brokers who had invested heavily in subprime loans were starting to collapse. Most of the rest of the country was still in the dark, or willfully ignorant.

Not sure PSR has impacted the NS west of Elkhart very much. Perhaps more so east of the city. I think traffic levels now are probably comparable to 2007.
@QRP20047 күн бұрын
@davidolnhausen7282 believe me man, we just had a 54K stall out because they decided one unit (C6M) could pull a 130000ft grain train up a 2.4% grade. They had 2 trailing units but they were in isolate. The conductor was walking back to the second unit when we passed the crossing. Didn't seem to happy with his engineer.

Both of these shortlines unfortunately arent really colorful anymore now that they're owned by Genesee and Wyoming. Idk why they force their color scheme onto other railroads.

I guess it makes sense that those BNSF ES-series locomotives were painted into H2 paint because they were ordered before they switched to the (ugly) swoosh logo. It's interesting to see how things changed over time.

In the grand scheme of things, it really wasn't that long ago, but there was still so much good stuff running on Class 1 out there. Cooler shortline schemes too... I see MMRR is still operating, but their power is the generic orange/black/yellow scheme now.
